ASUS DSL-AC56U Any Good for FTTN?

Hi guys, hope you're all doing well~

I'm not exactly a tech savvy guy when it comes to network equipments. I just got NBN live in my area and in my case apparently it's going to be FTTN. Currently I have my eyes on Mate NBN as they offer a cheaper price compared to AussieBB.

Now, I've been looking at some forum posts on whirlpool and ozbargains and apparently the ASUS Router/modems are pretty good. So I found this ASUS DSL-AC56U and it looks like a decent router/modem for FTTN but I would like to get a second opinion from some people who have more knowledge in this area. I live in a small apartment unit so I assume the router is good enough to cover all areas at my place with the 5GHz band.

I also saw some people saying that there's a better model called ASUS DSL-AC68U but it's also significantly more expensive compared to the DSL-AC56U and I'm still trying to see if there's any other better alternative that comes at a cheaper price.

Regards~

  • Could be Ok gets an OK wrap, it won an award in 2016 so it's got a few years on it's lifecycle but might satisfy your needs. I like this site for extra info https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/

    • Hi mate, thanks for the reply. Huh… never heard of that website at all, interesting.

Yeah I'm still browsing to see if there are other options

      • I use a hacked Tmobil Asus RT-AC68U on MerlinWRT, I rate ASUS for home use. I think for your needs that should be fine tbh. I just like SNB as a niche area to assist with research.
