Virgin Travel Credit- How Can I Get a $ Refund (Flight Cancelled Because of Covid)

How much popcorn can I buy with virgin flight credits?
You and the rest of us buddy.
May as well chalk it up as a sunk cost.
There was a reason they gave you a credit…
Join the back of the queue.
My fiance just cancelled our wedding after I informed her we will be downgrading our dream honeymoon. Good thing I will be saving money then.
Maybe it's a bad omen to book Virgin Australia for honeymoon. Just sayin
I think OP doesn't even realise VA have gone into VA
Most airlines are simply opting to only provide impacted travel plans with date changes or travel credit. Let alone Virgin Australia, the reason they were only offering credit is because they knew they could not afford to refund people, given their $5 billion debt. Take the credit or leave it. There is no chance you're getting it back into your statement during its administration.
OP, Virgin is $5b in debt, much of that against secured creditors.
Would you like to guess where your debt sits in that $5b?
Does anyone know if it's a flight booked through a travel agent (Expedia) for a Virgin flight, if the situation is different? eg the travel credit is with Expedia, not Virgin.
And if legs of the flight are code share, would the code share partner pick up the tab?
Thanks!
What did Expedia say when you asked them?
Has Virgin issued you any travel credits etc via email?
Just a generic email - I believe they mass canceled a bunch of flights and said credit would be issued
SO that was from virgin or Expedia?
@JimmyF: Sorry Expedia email. Comms has only come through Expedia as agent
@justabargainhunter: Then it sounds like you have a expedia credit, which atm is like winning the lotto, as at least your credit won't disappear if virgin goes under as part of the rebirth.

hahaha have you seen the news? You have zero chance of Virgin giving you any money, they have none!
If I'd paid by credit card I'd be attempting a chargeback.
Yeah I am in this boat - paid taxes on a reward flight which was cancelled, and was waiting for them to be refunded. Thinking about the chargeback route.
Complicating factor is that I already cancelled the CC as well, so not sure how that might affect it.
An email last night says we'll keep our points for now.
The question is what they will be worth at the end of all of this.
