Maybe for bathrooms with poor ventilation? Or areas of the house prone to excessive moisture / heat e.g. laundry? Or old houses? You get my point.

    • Don't you have Mould?

    • +5

Move to QLD and you will understand why 👍 worst if waterfront

    • +1

every city is different, u just can't use the average number.
in sydeny 80% humidity b4 and after rain, 30% for a dry sunny day,
yes u got an average of 55% but a dehumidifier and humidifier would make ur life better.

      • +2

Agreed. Thanks for the comment. I didnt realise the fact that parts of australia has high humidity of up to 80%.

    • +2

I assume he's trolling. No one can possibly be that ill-informed.

    • Everything everyone else said, like the size of the country! And… Averages. I just did the average temp for summer in Sydney over his and lows and we're at 22.3 degrees here! Perfect temperature why would anyone need an air conditioner?

Oh, and we don't ask live in tents and have the same indoor and outdoor humidity :)

    • +1

more like 90% in brisbane summer

    • We use one in our bedroom - according to the in-built hygrometer it's typically 85% humidity in the winter.

    • I don’t think I’ve ever read a more ignorant comment on OzB

Wow raining negatives. I would appreciate a constructive arguement and correct me if am wrong, rather than negging without a reason or knowing what am taking about.

    • +3

Plenty of reasons if you choose to read them

    • +1

What's your source for the 30% figure?

    • I've gotten mould in the bathroom before in a unit that didn't have opening windows in the shower. Case in point - bought the cheap packets from Bunnings that helped massivelyz had no choice really.

Also have a mirrorless camera where I use a dehumidifier that I charge every week to keep the lenses in an airtight box at mid-30%

Lol, nothing about your tone suggests a person who would like a constructive discussion (or argument as you say). Nevertheless, giving you the benefit of the doubt:

Fact Check…dehumidifiers and demonstrated poor or very limited knowledge about our climate conditons

Yes, if everyone lived in a tent outside and experienced a completely uniform average as you stated with zero seasonal variation.

      Laundry

Not everyone has a dryer including me. And so, yes, I do laundry in the living room when it's raining.

spend more electricity for taking some real estate in your house

Should I also get a better job that pays better money?

      I AM SORRY

I don't get the impression you are. Can't quite put my finger on why.

  • Pricing trend is quite unambiguous. About $10 a week price reduction.

it hit the sweet spot for me. my aliexpress models i was looking at was around $130 exc GST

    • It seems like a dynamic pricing app.

Sales went up price went up straight away

  • +2

Everyone. I should have come up with the right facts and sources regarding the use of dehumidifiers and demonstrated poor or very limited knowledge about our climate conditons. I AM SORRY

    • +1

didnt downvote you,but we have a media room downstairs which doesn't have windows and i believe it has alot of moisture as my wife left her cello in there for a month and she complained the case got mouldy!

      • +2

Is that what the wife calls it? The cello? :P

        • -1

no she stores a full sized cello in our media room. she doesnt play much nowadays and when she did the other day the case had some mould on it. she wasnt very impressed.

    • Maybe remove the sorry part and can say u stand corrected. No need to be sorry. You had your reservations which has changed. So 👍 nonetheless.

  • Thanks OP. been looking for one on Aliexpress. this seems to be a much better unit

price gone up to $194. anyone tell me how Amazon prices certain items against demand?

  • +1

    Expired.

As with most products on Amazon, the moment the system senses a spike in sales, it subsequently spikes the price.

    • Same thing just happened to me
.. was 158 then put in cart and it was showing as 194… Took a screen shot and called them and the guy just argues with me… Now it's gone back up to 194…

  • A prepper YouTube video spruiked the idea of a dehumidifier as a means to make water.

  • I bought one of this brand (the 612). Highest rated by Choice (for what that's worth). I mostly use it in cool weather (in Tas), particularly if its rainy weather. Reducing the humidity in the room makes it feel warmer. My GP recommended it after he had talked to a respiratory specialist that said heat pumps in winter can produce high humidity which leads to lung problems. I had actually bought a humidifier thinking that was the right thing (like a Vicks steam machine), but the dehumidifier did seem to work.

  • just received mine, looks well made for $150 :) Ive had it in the media room and its collected about 200mls atm

    • +1

I got mine today as well, it’s excellent. It removed more than 1 LTR already.

      • thanks for the post! just what i was looking for!

  • now at $163.99 in case anyone still interested.
