  • AOC CU34G2X is a pretty good choice, but a touch above your price point.

LG Ultragear 32GK650F-B is in the $500 to $550 range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB5m_VuvSLM

    • I've got this! Great monitor, 1440P isn't blurry at all. Can't fault it.

  • You're not gonna find an ultrawide worth your time for less than $1k unfortunately. I just did that dance and ended up getting an Acer Predator X34P for $1149.

Normal 16:9, you will have plenty of great options, though I would recommend sticking with IPS for colour clarity or VA if you're really not fussy!

  • If I have 2 x 24inch 16:9 monitors, what size ultrawide monitor would be an equivalent size?

    • +1

When 16:9 monitors are side by side means you need a 32:9 aspect ratio LCD (3840 x 1080), basically a 49 inch super ultrawide. If you google 32:9 monitors you'll get plenty of results and examples.

you'll need a big desk too so that you're not sitting too close to the monitor.

      • Thank you for your comment;

I got itchy fingers and in the last ten minutes picked up one of this; Acer, 34inch curved, ultrawide 3440 x 1440. Hope it does the trick.

In any case the 49inch monitors are beyond what I would be willing to spend vs personal need for the monitor.

        • Haha! I was just looking at this monitor, however seems out of stock everywhere!

Where did you buy this monitor from? Great value for money.

          • @Snacky: I tried my luck and popped into the nearest OW (Glebe NSW) and they had only one on the shelf, it was really lucky as there was no stock anywhere like you said.

Anyway its connected and I think the 34inch was the right size for my circumstances.

As long as you don't do any gaming or colour-sensitive work then that should do the trick nicely.

If you do do either, you're missing FreeSync/G-sync for gaming, and the fact that it's VA panel, not IPS for colour reproduction.

  • I'm looking for a monitor too. 27inch 1440p @60-120hz. I'm unable to find any good deals, especially on second hand ones. My budget for a second one is not more than $300.

    • I literally just sold a perfect condition Dell 27" 1440p 60hz monitor for $220 sorry bud.

  • I was looking for a 30"+ monitor at around the 500 dollar mark a couple of weeks ago, here's my experience:

    • Pulled the trigger on a Samsung LC32H711QEEXXY 32" curved 1440p monitor on eBay. This monitor was sweet, for 5 minutes… died stone dead unfortunately and had to return it. Looked really good while it worked though.

    • Out of stock of anything similar, and getting a bit wary of long delivery times with the virus impacting everything, I picked up the Philips 326E8FJSB/79 32" 1440p at Officeworks for $398. I like it for the price, although it's got some reasonably heavy ghosting in dark games compared to my 10 year old AOC v27m that I upgraded from. I'd recommend it for normal desktop use for sure though.
