What if it RTH but hits a tree on the way? What if it recorded your home point incorrectly?
?? Just because these scenarios have the possibility of happening if you don't check your settings doesn't mean that the functionality is useless.
Not saying it's useless but I don't think you should rely on RTH by default.

OP, you definitely can get a GPS Quadcopter for under $200.
For instance, check here. GPS RTH support.
Note I've never used this quad so can't vouch for it, but for $150 bucks it looks solid value.
For that price I think it should be pretty good.
