Buy an Intel Laptop Get Another Free - Harvey Norman Knox City VIC

781

To counter the popularity of the Buy Any AMD Laptop Get 1 Free (Deal can be found here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52934) Harvey Norman Knox City VIC have deals on a vast variety of Intel stock due to shortages with their AMD stock.

Not sure if this is at other Harvey Norman stores around the country, but if you're a local to Knox I'd be heading down there asap before they run out of stock. It's a great deal. It isn't limited to the same laptop too; you can get one laptop and then get another of equal or lesser value for free. They had quite a bit of stock left for several laptops today when I was in there but had already run out of others. Some laptops even have a free RAM upgrade to sweeten the deal.

I was told this deal ends once they're out of stock too.

Happy bargain hunting :)

        • I checked at Peppermint Grove and they weren't doing anything with Intel chipped laptops so no go.

    .Dupe post

  • Just got screen shots of 7 diff intel laptops, going to go down in the morning and see how much gerry has marked up the prices for the poor suckers that think there getting 1 "free" laptop.

    • if you can post it up near the entrance so everyone knows about their evil practices

  • They don't have many small laptops on offer.

    On the website, there are;
    2 x 14" screen
1 x 13.3" screen (that isn't a Sony or Mac), and it has no optical drive.

Was considering the 14" Acer, for $1048, but concerned about reviews of the screen, and keyboard quality.

Plus, i really want to hold out to get a laptop with USB3.0, and BluRay player.

  • If I was to share this deal with another ozbargainer how would it work with warranty only having one receipt and 2 people to get laptops?

    • +1

Photocopy receipt i guess. Each receipt will have the system serial number on it i expect.

This thread has lots of posts, and votes, people trying to organise laptop buying buddy. I'll laugh if it turns out to be only the 1 store.

      • +2

Last week when I bought the AMD laptop, I asked for 2 receipts.

  • Anyone in Victoria, preferably south-eastern region, wanting to go halvies on the Asus Lamborghini, plz let me know.

Or if ur after a high end i7 laptop, im open for options too.

    • Interested in the Pavilion DV6-6136TX? I'm in south-east too. It's not a Lamborghini but it's an i7 with decent 2GB 6770M :) Refer to my post below.

    • How much will it be? I'm very interested I'm from the area

  • Anyone in Melbourne?
I'm happy to go halfie for the DV6-6136TX ~$600 each. I won't be able to head in store though but I can pay you/pick up in full on Wednesday :) Let me know if you're interested and able to grab one for me. Contact me through the contact form!

Or if anyone has bought one and has a second for sale, contact me too :D

  • bendigo harvey norman was also doing this but the cheapest laptop was around 900 bux!

  • anyone know if brisbane city store has dv6 6136 left?

  • -3

Just rang HN Knox. Only ones left are Acer's, Toshiba, Samsung and something else I can't remember. They are apparently not covered under a "buy 1 get 1 free" but "2 for the price of …"

DV6-6136TX is not included and the prices mentioned for the above models start at $1790 odd … :(

Neg for HN, not the OP.

  • If there is no confirmation that this is nationwide, i don't think its worth bothering with…. i would go halves with peeps in Brisbane area but need confirmation first.

    • I just have this feeling that by the time it's confirmed by someone else for you, a lot of laptops are going to be out of stock.

This is a great deal people will rush in to get!

  • Update… just rang Harvey Norman in Ipswich QLD and Adriana told me they 2 Intel models on the 2 for 1 deal… the HP DV6136 @ $1,598 & the toshiba P750 01Y @ $1,498.

    • +2

You sure they don't mean the HP DV6-6136TX, which strangely enough is $1184 on their website. I think HN is doing their increase base price trick again.

      • Yeah likely, they dont' seem to know very much when you talk to them. I don't normally deal with this company. I just rang back to confirm the Toshiba as i couldn't find it on the Toshiba site. It is indeed the P750/01Y the other part number is PSAY1A-01Y022. It's an i7 but has onboard graphics! Wow these laptops suck lol, here is the specs of the Toshiba: http://www.itglobalsale.com.au/toshiba-satellite-p750-01y-ps…

        • Yes, HN has one of the worst ranges. I can't even come to buy from them at this deal. The best GFX card on their high end 3000+ model is only a GTX 460M!!

  • just called HN Martin Place, Sydney. Guy told me only AMD are on this deal…he just said "as far as I know".
    typical sales guys…

  • Does anyone remember the cheapest config for DELL XPS17 (from the last DELL 30% off deal)?
    I wanna get a 17" laptop and recently bought one off DELL outlet for $800 (Vostro 3750, i7 2360QM, 6GB ram, 1GB GT 525M, DVD, 17.3" HD+ WLED screen.)

Just wondering if I should return the one from outlet and wait for the next 30% from DELL…

    Thanks all!

Thanks supercheap1! but that's still $400 over what I paid for the Vostro (slightly inferior but quite similar specs). That's why I was trying to find out how much did the cheapest XPS17 went for during the last DELL 30% off deal…

    • $1129 was the cheapest deal for the XPS17 from memory. That was without any customization's.

      • AWESOME! Thanks Rumbaar, guess I will just stick with my $800 Vostro then…dont feel like paying $300 more for FHD screen, and slightly better graphics card.

  • Yikes, those intel only's are expensive!

still, saving a hundred or so bux when buying two, but what an outlay!

  • Something that caught my eye in the T+C's for the previous 2 for 1 deal was that if there was a warranty claim, it had to go through the original purchaser only. Might be different for this deal, but for all those sharing deals/buying off ebay, it's something worth checking before you buy I reckon….

Just dropped into HN Adelaide City. Chap said they only have 2 x 2-4-1 models left, both AMD. An overprice Toshiba and an overpriced Acer/Asus, can't remember which.

    waste of time

Just rang Chadstone trying to snag DV6-3136TX. They are currently not in stock and definitely not doing any 2 for 1 deals on Intel laptops.

But he offered to speak to the manager to try and do me a "deal". Got back to me and offered me $1200 for the DV6-3173TX.

    I said no deal.

    • Lol thats not even sandy bridge and for $1200! only + is the bluray.

    • +3

HN you've done it again, that's $1184 on their online store. What a deal at $1200!!

  • +1

reading the comments this feels like an ozbargain meetup :P

  • If anyone in Melbourne has managed to get the DV6-6136TX on the 2 for 1, I will gladly go halves.

  • +13

Went to knox to buy DV6-6136TX

Price on website is $1184 however the ticketed price is 2 for $1498

I asked about two for one at 1184.

Manager said "yep its 1184 on the website so i can sell you one at that price or two for $1498"

    I walked out.

    • +3

sounds dodgy…heard alot of that on ozb. Guess the rumours are true

Wonder how HN can get away with something like this. Raise prices before a "buy 1 get 1 free" deal…

      • Oh and originally they told me HP is not included on the deal

    • Still, if someone were to go halves with you($749 each)
it's still a pretty good deal considering the specs of this machine

      • which model are you talking about? (for $749)
        I just bought a Vostro 3750 from Dell outlet (NEW), with 17.3" 1600x900 WLED screen, i7 2360QM, 6gb ram, DVD, 1GB GT525M) all for $789…

        • wow not bad!!!

          model was HP DV6-6136TX

        • yea i know, I found the Vostro 3750 with my config ("almost" maxed out spec) is selling for $15xx (even with the sale a while ago, I think it was still selling at $10xx). So I guess I got a good deal from DELL outlet (1st time buyer) :)

    • That explains something then… My brother took 10min to transfer money, and get back into the store… "sorry, someone bought ONE". Huh?? One. Yep, one. I & he didn't believe it, and the salesperson wouldn't elaborate why. But now it makes (some) sense.

I rang Harvey Norman in the Valley Qld they said they haven't heard of it….anyone in Brisbane been able to snatch a deal?

  • +1

All this talk about what models, what prices, going "halfsies"… Quit messing-around! The stocks are getting ninja'd faster than you can wait for a reply, SERIOUSLY. 10minutes between phone-calls, ensuring who you spoke with, waiting for them to get-back to the phone… and the whole picture has changed.

They won't do phone-sales either. Unless you're in the store, and NOW, you're getting all worked-up for nothing.

Know your stuff, get in-store, and buy something. Otherwise, just let it go mannnnn!

It's not just Knox. It's running red-hot in most/all VIC stores, at the very least. Stock is the only limiting factor, but they enter more products into the deal each hour/day. Know your prices first!!

  • Just called Harvey Norman OXley in Brisbane - the guy said they sold out of all stock except for the Samsung 900x or something which goes for an insane price of $2790! no thank you!
Harvey Norman Garden City also have nothing left… :(

  • Just confirmed the "deal" for the HP DV6-6136TX is "buy one get one free" for $1599 (Harvey Norman Ipswich), yet it's advertised on their website for $1184. To me this is false advertising and quite misleading.

    • Went to HN at QV, Melbourne today. They said 2 for 1 is only for AMD laptops, not for intel ones. However, I noticed that they have reduced the prices for some of their Intel laptops, but only by about 20%, not 50%.

  • I get Computer Choice mag, which is almost worth the subscription. If I remember correctly, in one of their recent reliability round-ups Dell laptops were reported to have taken quite a plunge. Apple up top, Asus second - from memory…

  • This deal is a hoax! and harveys rep is dropping even more in my books. Saying two for one then marking up the prices pfft is that even legal?. Also, this doesn't seem to be happening at all in SA, I just went to marion store and nothing, they dont even have a single AMD laptop left.

I got in to the Bris city HN first thing this morning and got these:

    • HP DV6-6100AX (AMD Quad Core)
    • HP DV6-6134TX (Intel Core i5-2410M)

Plus 3yrs extra warranty on both machines, for $1260.

    Seemed okay to me.

    • was it busy at that time bro and u reckon there is stock left?

      • They had a steady stream of ppl coming in and looking at the 2-for-1 while we did the docket - I think I got lucky. But stocks were dwindling - it was the last two of each of mine, excluding a floor model DV6-6134TX.

The warranty deal Sam did was nice icing - I've seen them ask up to $200-400 per machine for extended 3yrs.

    • wow not bad
considering that you saved approx $800+ (not sure what warranty is)

    • Fairly cheap mate, got my DV6-6134TX during the HP sale and it cost me 600 bux, they offered 2 year extended on top of the 1 year for $70.

Used the AMEX discount of $50.

= 620 for one laptop. I thought I was a winner on mine, since JB sells theirs for 900ish. You win.

    • +1

Just opening the 6134tx now =)

  • Hey havoc-aus I will go halvies with you if you like on that Sony how do I PM on this?

    • Sony and Apple excluded

    • Cant you READ?!

Went to Harvey's Oxley in Brisbane. As mentioned earlier, they only had the one Samsung laptop for $2700. It's an ultra portable, has no optical, it has an SSD drive. The guy told me that they only had 1 left plus the demo model.

    This was at 4:30pm today.

    Crappy deals .… … done dirt chea…expensive!
Crappy deals, and they're done dirt expensive!

  • Lamborghini is a word that should never ever appear on Ozbargain.
Soooo, anyone in Melb wanna go halfsies on the DV6-6137TX deal?
It's 750$ each and I can meet up today.
Also willing to go for the 6136TX. I heard its around the same price (750$), only diff is it has 4gig less RAM.

    • Hi Polyteknika. If it is not too late. I will go Half with you if you can get the DV6-6137TX. Let me know. Cheers.
