Borderlands: Game of The Year Edition is free to play with Xbox Live Gold (or Xbox Live Ultimate) until Thursday 23/4/2020

I had a quick look to post a link here, but I couldn't find one (I randomly came across this offer by browsing game specials on the console).

So, you have to install it from the console.

This is the first game in the Borderlands series, and is Xbox One Enhanced.

I highly recommend giving it a try if you've never played a Borderlands game before.

  If you still have an Xbox 360 and a copy of Borderlands, you can upload your save to the cloud and recover it for the Xbox One version.

  The first Borderlands is primitive, very basic. I played Borderlands 2 first and went back to Borderlands 1 to fill in the background and its hard going.

  This first came out a little over 10 years ago… and it hasn't aged well at all. Even back then I wasn't a fan of the cartoon/comic animation, and now its just bad, really bad. By all means try it (its free!), but don't get your hopes up.

    I completely agree with you, I feel bad looking a gift horse in the mouth but it seems so odd to offer such a dated game for free to play, temporarily.

    I would understand if they did it with the latest one (I'm pretty sure they already did this) in order to drive sales.

    But it's so aged that I don't think a free trial is going to convince anyone to purchase the game rather it mine turn them off the series all together (which in my opinion is a fantastic series).
