    How?

sign in to myGov and under Government support for coronavirus, select Continue, then select I need a CRN and follow the prompts

      • I don't think you can link your Centrelink CRN to MyGov without a linking code or some sort of correspondence reference number. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

        • you are wrong.

read my OP. you can register for a CRN via myGov now.

          • @PissLUR: I wasn't referring to obtaining a CRN, I was referring to the process of linking it to one's MyGov account. The last time I tried, it asked for the activity period date or a linking code or a correspondence reference number. If one of those weren't provided, then it was impossible to link it.

              • @PissLUR: You need more than a CRN to link your account to myGov, you also need to answer the questions.

              • @PissLUR: Thanks for the link. I haven't had any luck linking it because it says I already have an online account (that I don't recall creating) and I'm unable to re-register because it asks for a receipt number from the last 8 weeks and a date to lodge next Centrelink form - neither of which I have. I guess I'll visit one of those lovely Centrelink branches as soon as I can find a Klappa tracksuit :-)

          • @PissLUR: You are wrong. You need a linking code and CRN to link Centerlink to My Gov.

            • @AS2035: Nope. You don't need the linking code anymore.

          • @PissLUR: You still need a linking code.

@AS2035: I can tell you the answer is still no.

I did the linking twice in the last 3 months. just the CRN is enough.

you are right, i didn't even think of posting this information so thank you!
Logged on to MYGOV account last night and went through the steps to validate identity and link within the centerlink portal.

it checked if i had an existing reference for centerlink and because i hadn't it generated on for me and linked to to MYGOV.

now the application cab be done online without need to visit an office or phone the centerlink office.

  • I'll have to call them up, I wasn't able to verify one of my personal id.

    • Try removing any middle names. A friend had the same issue and that got the verification to succeed.

    • I think it's the same issue with mine because they had my old passport on the system. Albeit this was me applying a few weeks ago.

It could be that if you have not gotten centrelink for over 10 years, then you'll have a few issues. The system won't be able to verify who you are as there are old credentials on the database. I had to provide my old passport details, so make sure you have that lying around somewhere.

      • Its not my passport, I couldn't verify my drivers license. I don't know why since I got it renewed a few months ago. I already exhausted the five tries, so I'll have to call them.

        • Ouch yeah, that number shouldn't change though. ;-(

  • There's no more queues anyway so if you have trouble online it's not a big deal.

  • Thank you for posting this! I've been waiting for the call from them for ages. Now no need to wait. You da man! Now to try and get some free monies for my broke ass.
