Which Contact Paper for Kitchen Counter Tops? Is Kmarts Contact Paper Removable?

I am after a contact paper to stick on to my kitchen's counter tops. Interwebs suggest the famous kmart contact paper : https://www.kmart.com.au/product/vinyl-adhesive-roll---marbl…
The only issue I see with this is that it cannot be removed without residue. There are things you can use to get around it - like baby oil and goof off etc - but I can't be arsed going thorough so much effort when my tenancy ends and I have to pull the contact paper. Does anyone have experience in putting such a contact paper on and removing it ?

I remember using something like this in the US and it was effortless : https://www.walmart.com/ip/Self-Adhesive-Contact-Paper-for-C…
Key feature being >>QUICK AND EASY TO INSTALL: just peel and stick. Removable without sticky residue.
It was as simple as lifting a corner and peeling it all off and the kitchen counter tops were in the condition we got them in.

Any recommendations on a similar (better ?) counter top ? Not after redesigning kitchen - just after making sure I am not returning a kitchen top in a worse-r condition than how I got it (even after fair wear and tear).

What are you planning to do to the bench tops to warrant such a drastic task. I would think general wear and tear would cover you.

Nothing too naughty, ya know. Just dont want to be arsed cleaning and dont want to make cleaning kitchen counter tops my priority.

Cleaning counter tops takes about 5 minutes.

You should clean them, regularly, to prevent food poisoning.

  • Alcohol will remove the residue like hand sanitizer - expensive these days

I would invest in chopping boards and trivets; then clean the surface often to avoid residue build up. You can also get dish drainers, with plastic drip shelves underneath, that drain directly into the sink.

My concern would be the contact ripping the surface layer off the cupboard bench.

We rented a few places, in our youth, but I’ve never put contact on a kitchen bench and, if I was an owner of a rental property, I wouldn’t be happy if someone did this to my bench top.

      Clean the surface often

… which is what am exactly trying to avoid.

It is not about the aesthetics it is about minimising you’re chance of food poisoning and basic hygiene.

  • Heard that wd40 does a good enough job on adhesive marks

I doubt anything like the two you've linked would provide enough protection for anything kitchen related without having to be replaced fairly often.

Wife used that very same kmart contact to "improve the look" of our kid's Ikea kitchen bench top…it's similar to the contact you would put on school books.

You can see it coming away on the corners and various blemishes on the top, but obviously this kitchen isn't being used for real cooking…

Yeah looks great for the kids toy but as you say not durable enough for a kitchen environment.

    • Thanks for replying mate. This really helps. Kmart's stuff is not even an option now.
