Well this film is aging well.
A protagonist who becomes unemployed, suffers from deteriorating mental health in the midst of an undiagnosed mental health epidemic made worse via budget cuts to health services, who then finds his community becoming increasingly divided and agitated with crime on the increase, which is predictably exacerbated by a mainstream media closely aligned with upper-class, moneyed interests, whom said main character climatically clashes with in a televised display that sparks a populist uprising of the masses.
If only someone could gather all the heads of the Fairfax/Murdoch-owned media companies into one room for a televised interview with a special guest.
If you aren't into batman or any of that shit (im not) this is still a good movie, there's small references here and there but it stands on it's own as basically you watching a man deteriorate mentally. good stuff.
Phenomenal film. Phoenix totally deserved to win the Oscar for best actor. A very dark movie, some may find depressing and heavy going but so well made and a acted!!
Agreed loved the movie. Phoenix played the joker awesome! Really made up for Jared Leto's performance
