Seriously, how would this go as a monitor for work? I want to brag, but also be practical

    • +1

I use mine for a monitor - but I'm 2m away from it

      • the problem is input lag

        • +4

its not much of a problem when its for work

the only minus vs monitor is the increased power bills

          • @abctoz: I don't think that should be your concern, chances that this TV uses more than 100W is very slim.

            • @sunnysteve: it depends on how much you use it obviously

              say it uses an extra 50w x 10 hrs x 300 days x .22c/kwh power = $33/yr

if you do that for 5 years that's $150…

              • @abctoz: interesting, never thought of it that way, guess it's time to rethink my power management, currently my desk setup is sucking up 300W+

                • @sunnysteve: definitely, i would have have thought of it either but i got in to mining for a bit and now i just see power bills everywhere lol…

of course you can do small things that save power substantially, like using lowest brightness settings, undervolting/underclocking where possible, turn off hyperthreading etc

                  • @abctoz: There's a big difference between mining (so 100% 24/7). I did some mining too and the impact to power bill was huge (ouch) :)

Most regular PC work will be idle most of the time with spikes in usage, so I don't think its necessary to undervolt/underclock / turn off hyperthreading. You might be saving small amounts of power but you might have a more pronounced impact on user experience.

GPU tends to draw more than the CPU so unplugging GPU and using onboard video would probably save more power than moving to cripple the CPU.

                    • @klownz: yeh it really depends on how much you use your computer, mine is on ~14 hrs a day so it matters for me

depending on the GPU, modern nvidia gpu's will idle <7W, and that is not much more than what the igpu pulls

you may be surprised that HT in my haswell i7 uses around 50% more power, even in idle. just turning that off my idle cpu power went from ~18w -> 13w, and at moderate-full load it'll pull around 50% more power too, we're talking 60w -> 40w, and for my tasks HT makes very little difference

of course i'll turn it on when i need it, but for my current usage i really don't need it at all.

      • +1

any photos of your setup? Im keen to use as a monitor too.

    • +1

was wondering the same thing. but 55 inches is a bit too much imo

  • ehhh….
    gotta go fast?

    • +2

When you gotta go you gotta go

  • Anyone know what the inputs would be on this?

Should have googled first. I would have assumed this would of been on the page to begin with.

3x HDMI and Ethernet. I suspect you may need to connect the ethernet to use the Chromecast?

      • +2

Chromecast normally comes with wifi built in

  • You wrote the final line twice.

" Now bundled with a fixed VESA mount so you can perfect your set-up! This commercial-grade TV mount is a convenient tool for home, office, conference room, trade show and school use. "

Just a copy and paste from the site - but please accept my sincere apologies

The tv on its own is on sale at $699 from $899, but the bundle with the wall brackets is $299. Am I missing something?

    • It seems too good to be true would love confirmation that this is the correct tv model

      • Is this model SH1T or is it a good one?

        • It's SONIQ, anything they do is the former.

They cater to a price bracket, where the lower the price the better.

  • The description is talking about "Model: N55UX17B-AU"

But when you put the deal in, the Model changes and I don't think the description of the new models updated accordingly.

    • I think this code (BUNN55/W6010T) is for the bundle and not the model of the TV. I think it's either a mistake or they just need to get inventory out.

    • Looks like all the other TV’s are sold out so just getting rid of stock??

  • +1

Just bought one will wait and see if it's an error.

  • Good for gaming?

    • +3

Casual budget gaming yes. $299 for a TV is good value but you get what you pay for imo
I have the 4K SONIQ 65" as lounge room TV. It does the job

      • +1

        Thanks, much appreciated.

  • all these cheap TV deals make me regret my old TV broke too early in the year

    • How early ?

    • +3

Break the new one now and you're in!

      • but that's double the cost, no?

        • +21

Double the cost, but think of the savings.

          • +1

            @RolandWaites: True ozbargainer.

  • +3

Just checked again and pretty sure they are gone!

  • I think it's been ozbargained

  • Definitely a pricing error

  • Just grabbed a couple thanks OP.

  • +24

Still available here, use "SEVIP2019" to get it for $284 :)

    • Wonder if I could buy again using the code then cancel my first order? Would reduce the cost of shipping if nothing else.

      • Think you'd be able to definitely order again, but I'm not 100% sure about the cancellation, I'd imagine you could try and call them tomorrow or Monday to cancel..

      • Mine didn't add a shipping cost even though i selected postage instead of pickup.

either the code doweyy provided below made it free or this is shipping from Brisbane.

        • +2

          It says free metro shipping.

    • +2

I am failing to understand, Whether I have just spent $284 or earned $15 with this particular code :P

  • -6

I don't think it's a pricing error as you can buy this from dick smith for $499. So not a huge saving really

    • 40% seems big to me.

      • Has been $399 on ozbargain in the past also!

    • jb or hn or ds could charge you $299 just for some wall mounts.

      • This is OzBargain.. harvey who?

    • -1

      $459.00 normal price

  • Damn, my old cabinet is too short for this :(

    • +2

Wall mount it above the cabinet 😀

      • Then I need to buy my own house! :/

        • +2

Well. I bought a house and the tenants mounted their TV on the wall. Left me holes to cover 😫.

So I put a big Star Wars poster there

  • Wish it was 65”

  • +2

damn impulse purchased. thanks OP and doweyy for link and code!

  • Can i cast from my oculus quest to this in built google chromecast?

  • Does Ultra HD mean 4K? If not, what is the resolution of the TV, I can't seem to find it on the page.

  • Unidays code brings it to $269.10 :)

    • Damn just purchased! Is it a generic code that you can share?

  • Impulse purchased, though will be in need of one soon anyway. Thanks OP and Doweyy for the updated link and code 🙂, if not great will see if the return can be covered under PayPal (Soniq offers a 14 day change if mind option as well)

    • Think you got the last one, ozbargained again :(

  • +2

    Looks to be sold out.

  • Damn I missed it 😒

  • 50 bucks shipping

    • I paid $284 free shipping.

      • +1

        i live in the sticks

        • Me too still a cheap tv even with $50 postage.

  • +3

    And ozbargained….

  • +3

previously on sale for $399 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/447951
so it might not be a price error

  • +1

Linking to a 32 inch tv now. And now it isn't weird.

    • -1

Yes I noticed that when I clicked the link before but in the description it still says 55". Hope they don't send me a 32".

  • +1

Spewin. Had one in my cart. Hit the PayPal button and bam, cart empty…

    • -5

Dodged a bullet there mate. Count yourself lucky!

  • The chromecast on this does not work properly

    • In what way?

      • No doubt flakey. My sony with built-in chromecast is flakey i had to buy an device

      • I have this tv, just does not connect to chromecast… but other then that great tv

    • thanks for the heads up

    • I'll be using my Telstra tv so shouldn't have any issues.

  • It says "Refresh Rate: 50-60Hz" but it also says "Quick Motion allows 100 Hz Refresh Rate". So it isn't really 100Hz?

    • Also no HDR. After reading the specs and reviews I'm considering cancelling aha. Many people have issues with Chromecast working properly.

    • Fake 100hz

    • -2

It isn't true 100Hz so don't get your hope high
Okay for movies but consoles gaming can be a bit wonky

      • -1

Why would console games get wonky? 60hz is native for consoles…. If anything this is perfect for them.

        • +3

My brother tried playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 via a Soniq TV (4K, 100Hz, 65"). It was obviously downscaled to Full HD. However, we noticed very consistent ghost shadows and tearing during the game. Most noticeable when character model moving faster on horse back

When playing on the Samsung TV (native 60Hz) in his bedroom, we didn't experience anything like that

          • -2

@Scythic: It isn't actual 100hz it only appears to be, its actually native 60hz same as the Samsung you're talking about.

Of course a $299 Chinese made TV isn't going to compare to a Samsung tho, that's just obvious

            • +1

@MEGASERVE: I already said that in my first comment…. wondering why you neg and questioned it in the first place…

          • @Scythic: Just turn off the auto motion thing from the menu. It's literally unplayable with that garbage on.

  • +3

cheap 55" for the switch, bargain

    • That was plan too, but alas…

  • +1

Guys I received email with 20$ e-gift vouchers because of the price error
