Exercise Bike Recommendation??

Heyo

Does anyone here own this particular exercise bike and if so can you vouch for its quality?

I did look on eBay and gumtree but I wasn't really satisfied with the local offerings, so this seems like the better pick.

i hope you noticed "Presale Ships on 20th Jul"

    • Hmm that definitely puts a pin in that idea. I do know this particular model is available on a few other websites so it's possible their stock levels are different.

Get a spin bike. At least the seat and handle bars are fully adjustable. Get one with a screen to track your kilometres. There are videos on YouTube of spin work outs. I found the regular excercise bike seats too bulky- being a female. You can get the gel seat covers at Kmart really cheap.

If you already own a bike then buy a dumb trainer.

  • I own a variation of this bike. It's decent. 13kg is still fairly light for the flywheel. If you're taller than 6"2 then avoid. The seat isn't adjustable enough.

Highly recommend just getting a road bike tho. Especially with the current isolation rules. Allows more opportunity to get out and about safely.

Don't get an indoor trainer or exercise bike. Get a bike and ride outdoors. You might like this true story from my club.

A brave cyclist, who wants to remain anonymous has today admitted what many are thinking - indoor cycling is actually pretty shit.

After following the advice of all his 'mates' this rider bought an extremely overpriced piece of indoor furniture. After a few rides on it, the rider made the following observations which they have passed on.

'I ride my bike for the fresh air and the outdoors, I don't do it to get the feeling of visiting a sauna or to pour sweat all over my living room floor.' Many were stunned to hear such honesty to be spoken about an industry that has blossomed in recent times.

'If this is cycling, I think I will just find another sport to fill my time and as for Zwift, I may as well play Call of Duty and then call myself a soldier of fortune.'

They are now, like many placing an infrequently used trainer on Bicycle Market so that the next sucker can come along.

'No point bursting the bubble, till i get my money back'. This may shock many converts but this rider felt compelled to blow the whistle "I would rather be stuck on a cruise ship, than be stuck on an indoor trainer".

    • i know what you mean. just setup my first indoor trainer setup…..i ride at least 5-6K per year so need my regular cycling fix…

it does get boring and you do need to stay disciplined…music helps for me. i dont do zwift as im not interested either….just use my cycling comp and focus on cadence/speed/technique etc. fortunately my trainer was a freeby so only outlaid for a riser block…cheap & cheerful setup

have only put in 8 hours at this point in time over the last 2 weeks or so…but there are definitely benefits especially coming into the winter months….love being able to kit up early in the morning when its raining outside windy & overcast and put in a solid session without worrying about autumn / winter weather post-ride clean up, maintenance etc

i think i'll keep it up as i can easily put on the kgs/lose fitness over winter if im not doing any riding at all

Yep that's why I switched to a BMX lol at 56 years old. Changed exercise for me into fun. No need for any fancy gear just a helmet. No need for hours of pedaling to keep fit or lose weight. Just jump on go for a ride and practice new tricks. Doesn't matter either way we are still bike family. Ride on..

  • I have several exercise bikes - but they all require being used outdoors. Hate the idea of not going anywhere and getting all sweaty while watching TV. Same deal with treadmills, rather run in the rain.

Get a push bike, ride it outdoors.

  • Anyone seen any decent Exercise bike deals lately?

I cant see any bikes that look ok on Gumtree or Fb Marketplace in Sydney and I have been looking for quite a while.

Considering buying on of these on my 28Deg and hoping price drops as demand does.
