DCS World All Modules Free for a Month (except F-14 and Viggen) @ Steam and DCS

250

For the simheads round these parts. Check out almost the entire roster of DCS world for free. This is the best study level military sim you can "play", but if you're not interested in spending hours learning how to start a jet engine(why not, you're not going anywhere) then you can just toggle the game mode instead of simulation.

IF you just picked up a PCVR headset then this is a must to experience, but do have at least a 1080 if you want to give it a go. Nothing beats flying around in VR when you're stuck at home. Fly safely and maintain proper separation when formation flying!

I only have a 1060 and a DK2 for VR, but this is still a fantastic flying experience.

  • Guess you don't get to keep them?

    • Nope. Just a free trial.

      • But all 50% off during trail

  • I'm running a 2080 and a 3600X and I find in VR, that this game runs terribly when I up the resolution to match my headset. Any suggestions on tweaks?

    • What headset are you using at the moment?

      • +1

        Samsung Odyssey plus

        • It should be fine, i'm running a Reverb Pro with only a 1080. Just take a look at Zeggie's link above, because in WMR you want to enable reprojection, though in the latest Steam4WMR patches all this is done automatically. Give it a go.

I cannot stress enough how much I LOVE DCS. It is the best combat flight sim bar none. It is amazing. Add in VR and it is truly awesome. It is an experience like no other.

Highly, highly recommend jumping on this and giving it a go. Youtube "Grimreapers" for some excellent tutorials for practically every addon.

And if you want some excellent tuition on dogfighting, YouTube growling sidewinder. Nice guy.

    DCS is an amazing Sim.

    • This guy taught me all about notching and changed my view of BVR combat.

    • Yep, another excellent channel I regularly watch.

  • More than $100 for the popular aircraft? As much as I love flight sim that's a bit too rich for me. I only have time to be a casual nowadays.

    • Which one? F/A-18C is arguably the most popular and all rounder ~$62 bucks.

For casual flying I'd recommend the F-15C. Easier module to fly ~$12 bucks.

      • These are the prices I'm seeing on Steam, logged in or not

        • Ok, I where the confusion has stemmed from. Most DCS deals are not available or are limited when using Steam. DCS would prefer you purchase directly from them, instead of using Steam. They benefit more so in response they offer more frequent and usually better discounts.

I've reported to update OP's description to make this clearer.

          • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Thanks for the info.

"Go to Deal" button above attached to the Ozbargain post goes to Steam.

          • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: There's still nothing available on Steam, so I'm confused. Can I use the DCS direct aircraft on my steam edition of the game?

            • @[Deactivated]: Steam discounts aren't available until 13th May. As per my post.

              Ignore Steam altogether.

Go to the DCS website, download their standalone launcher, and play it that way. It rewards them and will likely result in you paying less along the journey. Far more frequent deals going direct.
