  • Uses Voda, Given my foray into the Optus network has been ho-hum, it might be worth a try.

  • Can you buy a few to use throughout the year? Or do they expire?

      • Ah ok thanks

Cheers, just in time for my current expiry

    • In another deal, voucher expires on 30 Jun, but you must bring in your number. This deal is OK to open a new number.

Kindly reminder: Kogan's network is really terrible~~~~but price is cheap enough if you buy this sim pack

    • +2

I found it to be just fine in my experiences through Brisbane.

      • How you finding data connection & speeds? That's my big issue with Optus, either reception is patchy or worse there's 3+bars, but no internet.

Ported from Boost yesterday to Kogan. Port was done in about 5 minutes, no complaints

About one month ago I tried to contact Kogan mobile costumer service but just gave up. Made about 5 phone calls and was putting on hold in total about 3 hours. They never answered. I tried to reach them on Twitter but that also failed.

      • do u need help, I was struggling with them last week and finally get it through

  • Tried to port from Boost to Kogan 3 days ago. Still waiting.

    • I need to wait for a week due to my previous plan is run out of credit, you have to reply to their sms request

      • You can call up and they can help you straight away

  • Can redeem on existing plan?

Catch Connect (Optus Network) is same price or $9.90 with Cashrewards for the same data and 90 day plan https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/524607

    • +3

This deal is best for people who just/nearly finish 90 days plan with Catch Connect.

Make sure to port out on/before the last day of 90 days plan with Catch Connect as Vodafone/Kogan requires replying to SMS to initiate porting. Otherwise, you may have to recharge a min of $15.

      • Or call the customer service and they will help you by sending a message with a temporary code which you need to tell them over the phone and they will be able to start porting. This happened to me when I called them after 3 weeks waiting.

        • I heard hours would be wasted over the phone in these days, not worth it. I prefer to manage it better to avoid it.

    Thanks OP. Bought one :)

This deal allows to open a new number.

      • Fair enough, not sure why they come up with these stupid restrictions in the 1st place.
        Upvoted.

  • No love for existing customers.
My kids are expiring their 1 yr prepaid Kogan deals. Might have to port to another provider and not bother going back.

You should join the "Ozbargain Sim Slut Plan". Just port between this and Catch 90 Day Plan
Works out to be less than $60 per year.

      • Works well, but I don’t bother messing around with porting, just activate new SIMs for data and use a Dual SIM phone to retain main number.

        • Wouldn't that cost more money because you need another plan for your main number?

          • @Arthur Dunger: Yeah It does, but for less messing around porting it seems worth it to me. I used a $20 Vodafone 365 day plan pack, they allow you to convert to eSIM with an iPhone on prepaid.

  • The $4.90 plan is better imo U get 40gb

  • Ordered this last time, never arrived.

  • So if you buy this and do not want to continue after the 90 days
how easy is it to cancel? Do they have an app or a dashboard in the website
    any links>

    • On the website and app you can cancel automatic recharge fairly easily. Cant remember which tab it was in i think under payment.

  • Anyone recall what courier they use? Enough trouble trying to get a sim through boost using Toll that I'd rather go into a store.

    • +1

as I remembered last month, boost uses StarTrack for your order. Kogan uses standard letter for sim shipping with no tracking

      • Yeah this was months back, maybe they learnt their lesson with Toll. Star Track are fine. Letter is even better. Thanks

Just in time for me. However the biggest problem ive had with kogan lately is activating the sim, certain times on the network sim just won't activate and when u call kogan they say its malfunctioning sim which it isn't just need to try a lot at different times.

    • I got the same issues, they asked me to buy the new sim hzzz :(

  • Have used kogan Mobile for a while and found it to be great but I would recommend anyone NOT to buy and activate it while this Covid situation is ongoing.

Tried to Port my number over a couple weeks ago and after 3 days it still hadn't ported. Tried calling them but was on hold for hours for 2 days and couldn't get through so I just ported from catch to belong which ported in 10 mins.

Check the recent reviews on Product reviews, lots of people are having the same issue

FYI, for those who are not able to port your number to kogan and cant call them (like I did last week, their call centre is freaking dead and u need to wait at least 2 hours to get it through, wasting time on the call tbh). Fill this form and reply to your email with the authorised transfer code, they will promptly sort out for you around 2 business day. https://help.koganmobile.com.au/hc/en-au/requests/new?ticket…

Just in time for my last 3 month sim to expire thanks

Can I buy a sim card from 7 eleven and then apply this voucher to it or do I have to use the one they send out when I purchase the voucher? I'm asking because I need to port my number from TPG before months end I don't know how long it will take to arrive.

    Cheers

I've successfully used a different Kogan SIM to the one sent out.

It was common practice to get a few spare SIMs so we wouldn't have to wait for mail out. Still have a few spare Kogan SIMs.

Kogan say if you can't wait - get a SIM from 7-11

      And welcome to OzBargain!

Kogan old SIMs will expire like Vodafone's now.

I just found it out earlier this year, 75% of mine can not be activated any more.

        • +1

          Thanks for the link👍
          Lucky I restocked 3, 2 months ago.

Kogan $2 SIMs do have other uses…
I added Kogan's $2 SIMs to 3 $48 cases of Hoegaarden Beer to make the 3 orders up to $50 - then applied $20 off $50 vouchers.

          • @INFIDEL: I always buy a plan with it. I think the extra ones came frome the days when Kogan always give you 2 SIMs for one plan purchase.

            • @Neoika: There were deals last year where you could order 5 free Kogan SIMs - so have another 5. Do those SIMs are less than 1 year old.
              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/453558

              • @INFIDEL: I guess they won't be usable soon unless you can get some vouchers for free. 1-2 spare ones at home is enough now.

                • @Neoika: Have a voucher expiring late June.
Haven't used Kogan in years. There have been so many other cheap or free plans.

Only bought the SIMs (& 1 voucher) to qualify for $30 cases of Belgium beer🍺

I'm currently working my way through a stack of "expired" Vodafone SIMs by taking them to a major Vodafone store & swapping.

Thanks. I'll pick one up this weekend. Worried about being able to get my number ported in a timely manner though.

        • +2

Just an update. I used a sim card that I bought from 7-11. And the number porting went through in about 10 minutes. I was previously with TPG who also use vodafone so maybe that had something to do with how fast it went through.
