Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus SM-R175 (White) $197.99 Delivered @ Heybattery, Kogan Marketplace

190

First-time poster so please be nice. I hope this qualifies as a good deal because it seems to be one of the cheapest around at the moment for the Galaxy Buds Plus, specifically in white.

Black versions for $205.99

Based on the seller's homepage the item will be dispatched from their Melbourne warehouse, so I guess it's considered Aus stock? I guess not!

Apparently low in stock so be quick if you're interested!

Dick Smith also has them for the same price. Even though we know it's been acquired by Kogan, they are technically 2 different stores, so maybe with this you would be able to price match from Officeworks. Not sure what their policy is.

“item will be dispatched from their Melbourne warehouse, so I guess it's considered Aus stock”

    Very unlikely.

Not sure about Kogan but with regards to the Buds+ rtings rated these overall the best wireless earbuds they have tested. Yes better than all the ozbargain favorites from sony, jabra, airpods.

    https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/wireless-blue…

    • Does rtings review the non mainstream brands like 1more or sabbat?

      • Yes they have reviewed 437 headphones including for both those brand, just search their site I saw reviews for both.

        • I wonder why they didn't include those top performing TWS buds in this review then.

          • @shiny1: They dont rate well? perhaps go have a look at the reviews and let us know.

            • @noise36: https://medium.com/@scarbir/the-best-tws-true-wireless-earph…

"The reviewed true wireless earphones in this article sound WAY better than the Apple AirPods at 150 dollar, which delivers an unbalanced sound with weird frequency peaks in bass, vocals and instruments. They also sound way better than the wireless Samsung Galaxy Buds."

So now the question is, who is a more reputable reviewer?

              • +1

@shiny1: The internet is rife with "reviews" which are just someone giving their opinion on something.

The great thing about rtings is that they do technical analysis, they look at the facts where possible and compare those on a life for like basis.

rtings give their expert opinion on the facts uncovered via technical analysis, other reviewers give you their opinion on what the facts are, rarely do any sort of technical analysis.

Science vs faith, you be the judge.

                • @noise36: Thanks for your continued discussion. Because of this, I had a better look at the rtings review. I do appreciate graphs and actual technical specs (glossed over the overview the first time), as I had been wanting to find reviews done by someone like a sound engineer or someone who is not a cookie cutter tech YouTuber who actually has no idea what they mean when they say words like soundstage or tight bass etc. I am a little disappointed to see an under representation in the Chinese branded stuff, especially from their newer lines like the sabbat e12 ultra (rtings only has the original) and the 1more truly wireless anc, which wasn't included in their spring review line up, even though it was released recently. There are others that I think deserve a look at but are absent from their reviews. I'm hopeful they'll include it in future reviews, but I've yet to see a head to head review that pits the top mainstream brands against the top Chinese brands with actual technical analyses. Plenty of "faith" reviews, as you put it, but that's not good enough for me.

    • Best that they've tested but with a lower score than two others in that list by some distance. Lol.

    • I just wish they made a non ear canal version.

Catch have it for $195(https://www.catch.com.au/product/samsung-galaxy-buds-plus-sm…), its even better if you can combine it with 20% gift card(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/528931)

I went to Samsung store and got a popup with $50 off $200 spend when signing up for promo emails. Dropped buds+ from $249 to $199. Bought a white set a few days ago. If no popup pops up, try incognito. Education store was $239 but the popup there was $50 off $250 spend

    • Any idea how long it takes to receive promo code. I've subscribed but no email as of yet.

      • I got 2 on 2 different emails, 2nd attempt came first, about 10 minutes. 1st attempt took about 15.

    • Nice find!

Obviously not AU Stock and without 24 month warranty.

    • Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the warranty less than 24months? Thought only phones and tablets have 2 year warranty. Buds should be six months or one year max..no?

      • One would reasonably expect these to last 24 months, given the price tag. That is the benefit of Aus stock - Australian Consumer Law.

They're 24 month warranty according to JB and Mobileciti websites.

    • PLEASE NOTE THAT every stock arrives our warehouse, we have to open and check to make sure the product and the accessories are inside. So it's not unopened but we seal >it in the original box.*

Seems pretty sketchy when a seller has this in their T&Cs

Most likely imports then checks the stock and swaps out power chargers etc don't know why people would bug from this mob

Lol. Checked! The pack is no more a virgin LMFAO

  • Might be worth considering for those with Kogan $25 back when you spend >=$100 on their Amex cards.

  • Using these right now. Good package but SQ and comfort are just okay to average. Considering selling my soul and getting the airpod pros.

  • I went to Officeworks today and they were unable to price match due to the model number not being displayed on Kogan's website. Also due to the fact the stock is the international model. I went to JB and they were able to pricematch Dick Smith's even though Dick Smith's themselves wrote the stock is international (the managers just say yep to Dicksmith price match). Picked up a black pair for $206. Thanks guys!
