What Do You Use to Backup Your iPhone Photos?

Always have problems with iTunes backing up, and have too many photos to pay for iCloud.
I’ve resorted to using Google photos but the quality isn’t the best.

Anyone use any reliable programs to get photos off the iPhone?
Would be so much easier if it could be drag and drop like a USB stick.

I use Google Photos paid version which is $2.50 a month for 100G. Use Google Rewards to pay the sub.

Google Photos free version reduces quality and size.

I haven't had any issues with iTunes backups, works fine. Also backup the backup onto an external hard drive.

You can opt for Amazon Photos (free with Prime) if you don't want to pay for iCloud storage or use Google for compressed quality/privacy reasons.

    • Isn’t amazon photos limited to 5gb even with Prime?

  • One Drive, Sandisk makes a lightning port USB stick with an app to go with it. Can be used to backup photos and videos.

Been using PhotoSync for a few years. The “premium” version will transfer to a network location (Samba, OneDrive etc). With optional delete from device it keeps IOS clear of duplicates.

Wasn't google photos saving them in original quality if you were saving them as HEIC?

iCloud, if youre going to spend all that money on an iPhone its not a big purchase to pay for the iCloud service designed to work best with the phone

iCloud but more for syncing across all my devices. Thus any photo/video I take on my phone is synced to my desktop in full res in real time.
This is then locally backed up using Time Machine to my Time Capsule for quick recovery in case of a disaster.
And then pushed to Backblaze using Arq for offsite and equally important offline redundancy.
Just remember the 3-2-1 rule https://www.backblaze.com/blog/the-3-2-1-backup-strategy/

  • I buy a Office 365 home subscription, which gives 1TB of OneDrive (you can also share with 5 others & they each get 1TB OneDrive too).

OneDrive app on the phone will sync all the photos & videos up in original quality.

Having a licensed copy of Office for myself (and the 5 others) is a bonus.
