Ultra wide monitor

with the current situation, I am looking for a monitor that suites my set up
I have a macbook and a windows laptop and they both have type C port.

I want an ultra-wide monitor 34 inch maybe. I want it to be 4k or ultra HD, supports splitting the display between my devices, and if KVM is supported this would be excellent. Willing to pay ~1500

There's this one but its $1700
LG 38WK95C-W UWQHD+ FreeSync HDR IPS Curved 38in Monitor

There's also this on for $1399
    Samsung CJ890 DFHD S-UltraWide 144Hz 49in Curved Monitor

I prefer the LG one as it has the USB C port. Which allows my laptop to get power, video, keyboard, mouse and audio from one clean cable.
This is what I currently use to easily switch between my MacBook and windows laptop. In terms of KVM you could enable PIP mode and use Synergy or Logitech flow to use one mouse and keyboard across the system.

34" is probably not wide enough to get a full-screen split between 2 devices. I have a 34" WQHD monitor which can do picture in picture mode for two different inputs at a time but the result is black bars on top and bottom.

This makes the mode fairly useless for work, so I have never really bothered hooking up the display to two different machines.

With a $1500 budget you can get a 49" LCD monitor, e.g Samsung c49j89 or a Kogan branded super ultrawide which is currently not in stock.

    • thank you for your input. But isn't 1080 killing it?

      • Sorry a bit confused by [1080], Are you referring to the vertical resolution of the 49" or the price?

If you want a 49" with a higher resolution than the standard (3840x1080) you'll have to spend a lot more for what's called a 5K2K monitor. Something like MSI Prestige PS341WU for around 2 grand

    • Agree 100% 34 is too small for picture in pictue. Either get two 34s or go bigger.
