Was shopping at North Ryde IGA and found hand sanitisers to be in stock. They had hundreds of them in the front desk + a few more in the aisle.

The MSDS measures the ingredients by weight, not volume.
50% alcohol by weight equals approximately 60% alcohol by volume (assuming a mixture of alcohol and water), so this should be OK.
Most of these recommended hand sanitiser formulas are measured by volume, not weight (i.e. mLs, not grams).
Ethanol weighs about 80% of the same volume of water. And there's almost certainly some form of glycerin-based gelling agent in this product (heavier than water), so that makes it even higher of a percentage of alcohol by volume.

I would still be going down the route of purchasing metho and mixing up my own formula. It would cost $9 per litre for the DIY metho+aloe concoction versus $40 per litre for the premix hand sanitiser.

That is Fkng expensive.
Our local pharmacy hasn't got stock issues and is tons cheaper. Try your non chain or smaller chain pharmacies
I agree this is a rip off price. Not long ago I saw Terry White selling their own brand a 1 litre for $9.99
Some coles have got the 500ml for $9. Just ask the service desk cashier if it's available.

My friend just bought one of these for me at $26 as well at Priceline. It's ridiculously expensive I would not buy it myself at that price.
I got one 500ml bottle myself at Chemist warehouse the other day for $8. So I just can't explain the price difference.Adding this to my spreadsheet to see how it compares with the others in terms of unit pricing.

I’ve been to damn near every Chemist Warehouse looking for the Aquim Hand Sanitiser. Sadly, have not seen any stock for the past 3-4 weeks.
Came across some in one of the local Asian Grocer, $7.99 for 50ml. That’s like f”kn nuts.
A lot of expensive ones like Rivers/Millers etc are bloody expensive and have 4-6 week delivery timeline.I’m resorting to making my own. Managed to procure a good quantity of ethanol to make some following the WHO formulation.
@syngen: I managed to get the 60mL convenience bottle from Chemist Warehouse. Unfortunately they don't know when they will get the 1L in.
I too started hunting around but I've just increased my risk. So I've stopped that now and using the 60mL bottle carefully.
Just because something is in stock does not make it a bargain. At that price it's definitely gouging, especially for some no-name brand. Isn't the first time IGA is taking advantage of the situation.
the I in IGA stands for independent.. The IGA warehouse has being out of stock for 4 weeks, this IGA has done a deal with a man in a van.

From the table above, it seems it is about mid priced.
I saw this same brand & size available at various Asian stores for $20. They're selling heaps (didn't see any limit sign) so in case anyone need more than one, check your local Asian groceries.
Ridiculous price gouging from IGA. How is this even considered a deal?
IGA Redfern sells this product for $25.90 (and it even says “Special - Save $13.09”!)
I also found that it's $25 something in the IGA near me too. Not happy.
This brand seems to have flooded the market recently as seeing it cropping up everywhere now. Still unable to find out the alcohol % though so unclear if it's deemend effective or not.

In which case, not deemed effective. CDC recommends 60%+ ethanol and 70%+ isopropanol.
