Due to the shortage of webcams, it's been suggested i get a android phone, install DroidCam X and use that as a webcam.
Any suggestions on sub $100 phones with great cameras?

I want to use it for skype & zoom. I'm planning on using the rear camera (since it has better quality pic).
I'm hoping to use Skype/Zoom & hook a mini pc/old laptop to the tv so the kids can use it to chat with mates. And I'll use it on my laptop (as the camera is scratched) for the occasional zoom mtg
Does this mean it's not possible to use your existing phone?
Well I'm happy to buy a new one & mount it to my screen/tv so i can still use my current phone.
I need a new second phone as my old Note4 has just bitten the dust.
Some dash cams can be refocused pretty easily, and even the ones that can’t might still be suitable for the tv presuming the kids will be sitting a distance from it? That’s if you can deal with the wide fov?
If you did some digging you could find a pixel 1 for a hundred on the dot or a little under. Especially one with screen burn in or other hardware faults. It'll be the best camera by a long shot.
Which program or app do you need a webcam for?
I am sure you can get the same app on your iPhone or Android phone and use that when you need it?
