Hi,
Has anyone who has bought an HTC Legend from Dicksmith when it was selling for $199, having trouble to upgrade the software to Froyo? Everytime I try to download froyo , I keep getting the error "download is corrupt" :( and I need froyo bad … cos I REALLY want to download the Android app from Woolies, so I'll never forget to buy TimTams or get lost in the aisles while looking for timtams :(

Vegemite? Never had it. It kind of look er yucky, so have always assumed it must be yucky ;) Happy to give it a go , once I have my woolies app running :)
Over the air or by PC?
I had no trouble upgrading OTA.
Has to be said though, if you have the time and the skills, rooting and installing Cyanogenmod turns the Legend from a usable device into a delight!Over the air. I have a Mac, so can't download the Rom. Wouldn't rooting, void my 24 months warranty?
Perhaps try downloading at a friend's place with a more reliable connection than yours?
Rooting will indeed void your warranty.
But in my opinion, if the device doesn't break down in the first 6 months (or in reality, the first 6 weeks), the warranty is pretty much worth diddly squat anyway… it only covers the manufacture quality of the phone, and any defects are likely to show themselves in the first few months, after that, the likelihood of the phone breaking down swings heavily towards being a "non-warranty" reason. (ie dropping it/getting it wet).
Hence I never buy extended warranties - it's pretty much money in the bank for the people selling them.Do you have a link to a good rooting guide for the Legend? All the ones I have looked at so far seem to be extremely fiddley.
agree with above, and also, you can always put the official rom back, no one will know.
but be WARN
rooting android is device specific, different device different method/way.
unfortunately, legend is one of the most difficult to root.
i had mine rooted, after 4-5 hours constant reading / researching.
why have timtams when you can buy some Vegemite and spread it on your bicuits, all for real cheap
