That is logic but the stigma for wearing masks in Australia is just too entrenched. The CDC's comment about mask's effectiveness also does not help.
Yes, surgical masks are less than perfect but still. Even when they cannot completely block the droplets, they can deter people from touching their face directly.
People always neg me when I state it too, which is frustrating.
Even if it's just fabric that gets pushed more firmly by your elbow when you cough; that's effective.

Well golly gee, the WHO and other 'experts' which have been saying masks do nothing to help non COVID sufferers, were on TV last night and now SURPRISE - have done a 180 and admit that masks, any face covering like scarf, home made cotton mask DO in fact reduce the chance of infection.
Considering 10's billions of masks are needed worldwide, it's really been a conspiracy to stop general public buying so front line workers at most risk get priority of our limited supply.
Ramp up the friggin supply!

Just don't adjust them too often when you're out and about and transfer the virus to your nose/mouth.
Pretty sure the virus is much smaller than what anything like this can filter. Even cheaper surgical masks are poor.
The viral particles so far do not seem to be shed on their own, but rather travel inside of droplets of saliva and mucus. As such, cloth will catch some of these, and at least greatly reduce the travel distance of any particles shed by a contagious individual.
If you get the n95 inserts for these they are good, otherwise they are extremely ineffective and if you aren't used to them then can be more likely to help spread it when you constantly readjust them.

I don't understand why we don't learn from more populated countries.
If surgical masks did NOTHING, then densely populated countries wouldn't waste money.
At the least, they help better cover YOUR cough.
