sonarworks true-fi app is free for supported headphones. Excellent for SE215.
Spot on - there's videos/reviews where people actually build a "personalized" sound, delete the profile, retake the test and get completely different results.
Agreed. I tried them on at their stand at a shopping centre. Horribly uncomfortable. Didn't sound that great for the price.
These are gimmicky headphones that are not worth it at all. If they weren't at a premium price point, maybe (i'm talking $100-$150), but not for >$500 RRP. I got my b&o H9's for less than this!
Posted this on a previous deal:
I tried these at the QVB and they weren't that great. I walked away completely dissapointed…I'm more inclined to recommend the M1000XM3 or even QC35 to poeple before I recommend these.
If you're keen and not tried them, try them before you drop $300+ on them. I don't think they're worth it, even at 30% off.
This is just my opinion, ymmv.

I did my profile…
With the profile enabled they were really lacking in any sort of separation and there were no mids (worse than Bose). Also, with the bass thing turned right down there was still way too much. It cut into the highs reducing their definition and there was significant clipping.
The source for the test was Tidal, my personal Spotify premium, and my personal FLAC library.
My daily headphones are B&O H9 for the office environment.
Cannot agree more. Put everything aside, just the bizarre shape is already a STOP sign:
Why would a headphone ever need something like a in-ear piece?
IMO, anything that works well will look beautiful, at least not weird.
These retail for $500 ?! . Geez
Worse still as of last year I think they stopped shipping them with the hard case and replaced it with what looks like a 75c pouch.
I'd suggest trying them through the NuraNow subscription first for $25, no lock in contract. I did, had them for a couple months and have now returned. in the end, out of pocket $50, would have been much more if I bought them.
Agree worth trialling on NuraNow to see if they suit you. I actually really enjoyed my time with them, but I did a lot of air travel and they were too bulky to fly with so I sent them back. But from a sound quality and particularly a comfort viewpoint they were very good
I flew with them a couple of times, they are quite bulky, plus also renting them made me nervous to get any knocks on them whilst manoeuvring the tight seats and storage. Also, their noise cancelling is nowhere near a pair of Bose, that was apparent on the plane, and also at work sitting right near a server room with a constant whine.
From a comfort point, my ears couldn't stand the in-ear for long periods, but that's a personal preference to everyone.
I'm actually editing my review of them right now, but yeah ultimately I returned them and won't buy for keeps.
"headphone style"earphone.
I think they sound great. The personalised tuning while maybe not as mind blowing as their advertising claims, absolutely does what it says on the tin. Are they the ‘be all, end all’ headphones for all people? Absolutely not, but they do what the say they’ll do and they do it very well for most people.
I have another pair of headphones that have a very detailed and customisable EQ via it’s app - it allows to finely adjust curves and Q of multiple bands. I spent a good while when I bought them setting the EQ up to my preference and they sound great.
When it came to the Nuraphones, I sat in a quiet room and in 2 minutes I got the same (near enough) exact result. The Nuraphones had listened to the way my ears respond to various frequencies and adjusted the EQ so it hit the sweet spot for my ears. Indeed after getting some family members to also make a profile that suited them, to me these sound quite bad. My father’s profile sounds like the treble is being feed through a cheese grater, and my sister’s is all mids.
Now when I directly compare my setting on the Nuraphones to my other headphones mentioned above, they sound surprisingly similar (the treble is much smoother on the Nuraphones). Just one has been manually EQ’d to my liking, and the other has done it automatically by testing my ears. Pretty remarkable technology if you ask me.
I've had my Nuraphones for over a year now and I can see both sides of the argument. I bought mine at $375 and to me that's what they should normally retail at, not $500. I would not recommend these headphones as your daily drivers, because they're quite heavy and I don't like to wear them for more than a few hours at a time. To me, these are "occasion" headphones. When I'm playing a new game with great sound design, or I'm watching a movie that I really want to concentrate on, the Nuraphones are great. The sound isolation works well and when I want a really hyped sound, they do the job.
I have over ear Sennheisers, BeyerDynamic, AKG's, etc that are my normal daily drivers or "honest" headphones, but that's not what these are about. If you want good daily drivers, don't buy these. If you want something that looks and sounds very unique for unique situations? Then I would say they're at least worth a look (but only when on sale). I had a lot of back and forth with the company's customer support with my questions about functionality and whatnot and they were really accomodating and friendly. Made me happy about my purchase.
As with everything though, YMMV.
I have tried many headphones and my last go to was the Bose QC35 II as I really enjoyed the noise cancellation and decent soundstage and sufficient bass. When I first tried the Nuraphone I was blown away. Completely agree the neutral setting is a gimmick but with personalisation on and the front row on, it beats any headphones experience at this price range. The separation of mid-highs from the bass creates such a clarity. The added vibrating bass driver brings it home especially if you love your bass. It becomes a true listening EXPERIENCE.
I've flown with this headphones regularly on long Australia to Europe trips and the double noise cancellation (passive via eartips and large silicone cover, plus digital) makes it better than the Bose. The jet engine is completely wiped out.
The biggest secret even unknown to many existing Nuraphone owners is that the already excellent performance can be doubled even further by purchasing the optional wired cable with built in remote. When I first used it, it made the Bluetooth sound feel amateur! Through the cable the sound was louder, bass punchier and sounds crystal clear. I have never noticed how wireless can really lose quality until I tried this. It's a party in your ears listening to your fav tunes.
The silicone ear covers are super soft and comfortable, and whilst the cans are a bit on the heavy side I've never found it uncomfortable using hours on end. I have lighter pilot headphones I use when flying planes and the Nuraphone was never an issue.
I might add the personal sound analysis isn't a gimmick. I tested it with two other friends, resetting each of our profiles each time and every time the profile was always the same for each of us - and our three profiles are quite different to each other.
This headphones will make you happy.
P.s. If you watch TikTok dances this rounds out the visual experience as you also get a physical ear experience with those catchy tunes. Fun times to kill time.
These do not sound good. The "personalized" sound signature is a gimic - if you're young it'll EQ up the bass if you're old it'll EQ up the treble.
Substantially better options at this price point.
