  Is it wise to use a soap bar, given the current pandemic ?

  Everyone using the same bar seems to be a recipe for transmitting germs.

    It's ok if you take precautions. I always wash my bar of soap with soap and water before I use it.

    Soap is the best at deactivating the virus because of how it works. It's even better than ethanol based disinfectants like all those hand sanitizer, wipes etc.
    Regarding the soap bar itself, sure contaminants can and will stay on it, it will get dirty over time, even some bacteria can survive on it, most likely nothing harmful since there're ways more in your house anyways.
    Good practices are to wash your bar before and after with water and keep your bar dry.
    Or you know, wash your bar with another bar, get that bar on bar action going.
