Current Telstra Order Status and Activations Time due to COVID-19

So Telstra are really struggling at the moment , anyone who has purchased a plan in the last week might have a longer lead time!

—Story
So last Friday I ordered a 15$ 5GB Data Plan ( With Unlimited to 1.5MBS when it goes over that).

I received the Simcard two days ago and tested it and wasn't working. No problem , I tried to go online to activate it but they said they would need more info and to call

The Telstra call center at the moment is around a 20 minute wait , as their ovearseas call center is down due to Covid 19, and when I finally got through, the guy on the phone said it was his first ever call ( training new staff to cope with massive call load ) . He had some issues identifying me and thought my name was something else ( bit confused) he had his training people there and eventually said it was activated and to wait 2-4 hours.

Next day nothing so I tried the Telstra Message service on the App , good news if you don't need a Telstra ID to use this , it was around a 1 hour wait after I sent the first message but the good news is you can message back in your own time and eventually they respond.

Turns out the order isn't even provisioned yet on their side but they sent the time out anyway!

—TLDR

Sim was sent and not provisioned by Telstra before arriving , still Pending!

You can check on your status with your order number , this is in format 1-XXXXXXXXXXXXX/X , I found this on a PDF name they had send me earlier and you can feed it into below for monitoring

    • when you go over, it’s offers reduced 1.5mbps speed but unlimited data, been using for a year now as my primary wifi

        How does the 1.5mbps go? Whenever I've been on plans like that once they drop the speed they are unusable.

          not bad i often do netflix in TV just takes a bit to start then no problems.

  • Is the Telstra call centre back up and running? I thought it temporarily closed

    • Amazing will do , this wasn't really a moan, more importantly, to get people to use you App for Support seems better ( per the recorded Voice on the phone ) and hoping anyone with the same issues can monitor their order number!
