[QLD] Free Freshly Cooked Vegetarian Meals for Those in Need @ Gold Coast Sikh Temple Helensvale

1500

Very similar to this deal. Stay safe :)

The Gold Coast Sikh Community has teamed up with two local Bendigo Bank branches on the Gold Coast to help fill the stomachs of those in need during the coronavirus pandemic. In a bid to ensure no one goes hungry, the local Sikh community is providing fresh-cooked healthy vegetarian meals for free to Gold Coasters doing it tough. We know there are families out there with parents skipping meals to ensure their kids are fed. We would love for those in need to come out to our drive-through at our Helensvale Temple so we are able provide them with a delicious Indian vegetarian meal

Please remember these are for people "in need"… these meals take ingredients, time and effort to provide.

    Stay safe everyone.

Anyone can go to the regular meal service. I think the only requirement is wearing non offensive clothing and covering your head. They are very accepting of new visitors.

After all is said and done, we should nominate TA for an order of Australia. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ€—πŸ’πŸ™πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

    • Well said he deserves itπŸ‘

    • Lol, someone down voted this comment. πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

      • Jokes aside he has been doing an excellent job and there always gonna be hatters and loosers.

Why don't we nominate the Sikhs for the OAM?

      • That would be great as well. TA is more widely spread across the community. Do they give orders to volunteer groups?

    Darn this virus;
I wouldn't dare take food from them; but DAMN so I want some tasty (likely) indian food.
    None nearby.

Have had "langar" plenty of times in Sikh temples and boy is it tasty and all hand cooked with love and dedication!

Geez these Sikhs are too blokes

Indeed they are. Full on aussie. I understand that they are very stern and serious in their beliefs but generous as that is part of their core directive. They are doing an extraordinary job in good PR for their religion.

    • They're fully Sikh bro

This isn't just a special thing recently. The Sikhs provide meals for needy people around the world day in and day out.

Thanks TA. Just for reference, the langar from Gurdwara is always free and has been for ~500 years

Langar (Punjabi: ਲੰਗਰ) (kitchen), is the term used in Sikhism for the community kitchen in a Gurdwara where a free meal is served to all the visitors, without distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity.

It is free in every gurdwara in the world.
