    Canon 50mm 1.8 is up for $180
    Sigma 85mm 1.4 is up for $1550

WTF. Is this an April Fools joke?

  • +1

The prices are way, way higher than DigiDirect's eBay sale last week. Me thinks I shall wait…

    • +3

You may have to wait a while. The ship has sailed. To be fair to op, that was a sale which is no longer available. I mentioned in one of those digidirect posts that supply will likely dry up due to factory shutdowns, coupled with the AUD fall, there's lesser chance of that much discount for a while…

Beware — critical analysis and logical reasoning is not looked upon favourably in these parts!

    "Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens - $1598 (Was $1688)" - bought this a few months ago for around $1400 digidirect

    • +2

A few months ago the old AUD was looking a lot healthier.

"bought this a few months ago for around $1400 digidirect"

      So what?

      • You've clearly missed the point. Even if the AUD is bad or not - it's not really a deal, is it?

Doubt people would buy lenses at this time, let alone knowing that some prices were a few hundred cheaper a few months ago.

        This is OZB.

        • +1

Good point, we'll all just jump in our time machines and go back a few months and buy them.

          • @mickeyjuiceman: That's up to people who want to buy knowing it was cheaper before ;)

Either way if they want items now no one is stopping them from buying.

        • You've clearly missed the point. Even if the AUD is bad or not - it's not really a deal, is it?

No, you've clearly missed the point - if the Aussie dollar has sunk, this is the deal, because camera gear is bought in from overseas and the next batch is going to cost more and be priced higher accordingly.

Doubt people would buy lenses at this time, let alone knowing that some prices were a few hundred cheaper a few months ago.

You'd be surprised what people choose to spend their money on when they're facing an indefinite period of free time.

Negs: yes prices were bloated before they are discounted
Praises: their sales are helpful and professional. prices in previous sales were genuine

  • +1

Lame prices, DigiDirect had much better deals in their sale 2 weeks ago. E.g. the Sony 70-200 f4 was going for around $1250

  • +1

All these people with time machines! Take me back to 2018!

  • Nothing special about the pricing advertised.

    • Just wait six months and take another look at them.
