I am trying to find which skateboard would be a good starter skateboard for a 5 year old (4'2" tall).
I read this https://hopkin.com.au/pages/parents-guide-to-buying-a-childs… and it says dont buy the cheap kmart stuff. Now, the same cheap kmart bike (~70) was this kiddos first bike and he has loved it and rides it everyday and is prolly ready for a better bike. The main areas where the kid will ride the skateboard is on the concrete (and Pebble mix concrete) outside of the units he lives in. Which skateboard should I go for ? If it matters, the kid also has a sibling so this could also go on to be a hand me down 2 - 3 years down the line.
Which first skateboard for a 5 year old?

Surfstitch have a few Globe park completes on sale for $98 with a code. This one
Otherwise if the concrete is a pebble mix, maybe consider a cruiser with bigger, softer wheels. Surfstitch also have a few OBfive branded cruiser boards going for $133 with their current sale. like this one.
These types of boards are very forgiving.a cruiser style board would be more fun with a nice long road or driveway to get up to cruising speed?
if the skate space is limited, then it might be more worthwhile going for a ramp board and practice tic-tac and work up to ollie/ramp?Blind is a decent brand, $80 for a complete board at City Beach with code ROGUE20.

Cheers.don't forget to get helmet, wrist guards, or good health insurance ;P
@radnom: Not my problem anymore…lol
Btw, the site doesn't mention, but do these boards have a weight restriction?
Can a grown 100 odd kilo fella ride these?

Dont buy a cheap kmart one !!!!
Just wait for a name brand to go on sale . - like this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/527416
the wheels and trucks are extremely bad and most cheapies dont roll properly to the point it becomes dangerous when he decides to take it down a hill .
If you are going to be out $30-40 now just bite the bullet and spend $100 assuming he wants to skate in the future you will still be out $100 when he needs an upgrade.
Also make sure he learns to not ride mongo from the start - stands one foot at front of board not at the back of the board to have better form in the future .
