Elder Scrolls has been free to play* for years now. It only had a monthly subscription at the very beginning.

note: I said free to play, not buy.

Thanks for the heads up. Instead of playing this, I guess Ill drive my free to drive ferrari down to my free to sail yacht and spend some quality time with my free to **** lady friends.

Note: i didnt say free to buy

      • Actually both of those require fees and charges to use, so your analogy doesn't work.

        • Exactly. This guy seems to be saying that his insurance and registration costs on his Ferrari are free, lol. Not to mention the fuel.

If you want to nitpick, free to play also requires house, electricity, internet etc so isnt technically free either.

@Dungeon Master: You don't need a house to play a game on a laptop. I can sit in a park and play. You do need electricity, but that electricity need not cost money - ever hear of solar? As for the internet, that's a cost you most likely are already paying for for other things. You can also use free wi-fi provided at many locations, such as McDonalds, Starbucks, or Federation Square in Melbourne.

            • @AussieZed: How do you get free solar?

              • @klownz: Um, what if it was already installed when you bought the place? Also, you can always go to a mates place and use their electricity.

                • +1

@AussieZed: What if you’re borrowing a mates Ferrari that’s already registered, insurance paid with a full tank already in it?

                  • @Red Pandas: I'm starting to get lost in this… what point are you making again?

That the Ferrari is also "free to drive" because you can borrow it from a mate? Would that mate let you borrow it indefinitely though? Because the point I'm making is that this game is free to play all the time, not just during this limited period.

I really liked this game but didn't want to commit to it. Really grinds my gears that there's no Oceanic servers. Granted the latency is waaaaaay better than it was on launch but it still puts you at a modest disadvantage in a lot of ways. That said, it's one of the few MMOs where I found the story/quests are almost interesting enough to play standalone.

    • I’ve been playing for half a year now and rarely group and never pvp. The quests are plentiful and I don’t subscribe.

      • To be honest, given the limited time I have to play games nowadays I'd probably still consider jumping back in. I did have a lot of fun with the quests. The more I think about, the more I think my issue with the latency is just a case of FOMO ;) "If I wanted to do it, I couldn't without a severe disadvantage" :P

        • For soloing I don't think latency is a big issue, gets a bit mad at some dolmens with 50+ players. Quite a few Aussies are playing each night.
