I think this is an even better deal than the centrecom one because of the USB 3.0. OP you sure this is available in Oz?

    • Just checked with Amazon, the deal has the following info on shipping.
"This item is also available for shipping to select countries outside the U.S", and Australia is one of them.

    • It probably won't be an Australian power adapter… If you are removing the drive from the case (lik I usually do) this won't matter anyway :)

    • LOL, check out the box that said "Upgrade for a Premium Experience" on the amazon website…

  • $120 for a 7.2k 3TB hdd is pretty cheap!

Anyone know if the HDD can be removed and used from the external casing ? cheers

    • Yes they can.. I bought one of these from eBay and removed the drive from it this morning!

    • You can, but the case is held by several thin plastic clips that'll break when you open it, this probably means you can't return it for warranty, see here:

      http://skeena.net/blog/Seagate%20ST310005EXA101-RK%209SE2A4-…

You can however, open the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex (the more expensive version) case without breaking anything :)

  • Does anyone know for this one if you just need to buy a US to AU pin adapter (about $5) or the whole power supply (that will be more expensive)?

If its anything like the Seagate GoFlex desk ones we got last week, then the adapter itself comes with a selection of different mains pin layouts that slot into the adapter, and you're good 2 go.

      like this…

I've seen a few others like that (from HP, Buffalo, etc) and they are really the best way to go, I wish all manufacturers did that.

  • thanks got one

  • They seem to be out of 3TB already?

    • yep, gone

  • OP, I can't seem to find details for the hard disk mentioned (ST3000DM001) anywhere on the seagate.com website. Are you sure you quoted the right model number? Cheers.

    • Yeah good point. the goflex ones last week have the ST33000651AS, which is on Seagates website, and appears to be the only 3TB one on there.

  • All gone.

  • good deal
    gone fast

    Ozbargained!

  • If you just want to rip out the drive get the 3TB one with the USB 2.0 for $129.99 USD PLUS delivery, just got 3 of them for $416 AUD inlucding delivery to Australia and that works out to 138.60 for 3TB seagate, still a good price for those wanting to do a micro server

    • Do you mean model STAC3000100? Do let us know if the hard drive in that one is 7200rpm. Thanks!

      • Yes the drive speed inside is 7200 with 64mb. It's not as cheap as the main deal but a lot cheaper than anywhere online for Aus retailers.

        • You received them already? :O I asked cause there seems to be different model numbers, e.g. the STAC3000100 according to seagate.com only has 2-year warranty, while STAC3000300 has 3-year warranty on the box (which might also explain the price difference for Aus retailers).

  • Sold out?

  • Not sold out, the 3TB still shows as 'in stock' for me.
    Just ordered 2.

  • LOL.. They restock or someone cancel the item. Just bought one. Thanks OP.

  • Great Deal.
It will cost you $170 to buy a 3 TB internal HDD.

  • Yes, seems to be back! One thing to note is this has only 1-year warranty. The more expensive Seagate external HDDs have longer warranties… build quality?

  • Thanks OP, just bought some for my microserver.

  • BOUGHT! Thanks! $124.20 shipped to Sydney.

  • How does the internal compare with go flex version?

    • I have a 2TB Seagate Expansion, and a 3TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex.

The Expansion's hard drive is ST2000DM001 (similar to ST3000DM001 mentioned above), for which there's no detailed specs on seagate.com

The GoFlex's hard drive is ST33000651AS:
      http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/desktops/barracuda…

The Expansion is the most basic version of Seagate external HDDs range, so don't expect too much.
