Where to Find a Woolies Job?

Hey everyone.

It has recently been brought to my attention that Woolies is hiring 20000 new workers. I have checked their careers website but cannot find more than the usual openings.

Does anyone know where they would be listing these jobs?

They may be doing a staggered roll-out, offering the first 5000 positions to Qantas staff. Keeping checking back on their website.

If its anything like Coles… who said they were hiring 2000 people in Vic… they hired kids… literally 20 16 year olds started at my local coles in the past 2 weeks and all they are doing is stocking shelves

    • So that is very likely because these people already had applications in the system, whereas people who have lost their jobs still have to apply.

Nope, my friend who works there said the manager said he made the choices based on the wages budget increase given to them by head office, they literally only interviewed "juniors"
There was plenty of adult applicants

It not like its highly skilled work so just like Macca's the smart thing to do is to hire the kids !
          Look after Coles/Woolies shareholders .
But they need to stop the BS of giving hope to older worker's thinking they might get a job .

          • @popsiee: There’s only so many kids out there that actually understand this is a good opp to get a job, soon enough kids will stop applying (or won’t be suitable for the job, yes it’s possible) and adults will get them.

    im expecting dislikes but…
if u can get on centrelink and barely survive on it. u should do so.
this virus is going to go ballistic in the next few weeks. and i feel sorry for anyone who cant just stay in their home.

  • Somebody told me those jobs are paying $22 an hour. I don't know if that is correct. You would need to work 25 hours at that rate to equal double dole.

I wonder if these are midnight start jobs or wandering the aisles while all the sneezers are there shift?

Imagine how resilient your next resume will be if you can say you worked through COVID19 and even swallowed your pride by working at Woolies.

Surely that is going to be worth every cent to make you stand out compared to the hordes of unemployed with gaps in their resume fighting for the few jobs openings in 6 months time.

      Turn disaster to your opportunity

        lol

    • Its likely going to be casual hours, so if your on welfare you will stay on welfare. It will just be that for every hour more you work, your payment is reduced by a fraction.

Right now you want to get as much money as you can. Every dollar you can earn and invest now is worth like $3 from last year.

  • I’ve heard that store managers are just hiring people on the spot. Try and take your resume into a store.

  • Head into a store with your resume and say your interested in an interview.
The jobs aren't being advertised because they're focusing on redeploying team members from other companies (e.g. ALH, Qantas, Village Roadshow and Cotton On).

    • [casually pretends to be from said other company(s) to be hired]
Interviewer: [Asks a question that could only be answered if you really did work from one of those companies to prove you are from there and not saying you are from there]
      OP: "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……………………."

We are looking to hire up to 20,000 extra people across our business to help us meet the needs of customers in stores and expand home deliveries in the months ahead.

Our immediate focus will be the redeployment of team members from our ALH hotels business impacted by this week’s mandatory closures. Plus we’re working with many other businesses including Qantas, Village Roadshow, Cotton On and others to help find their employees roles. We are of course hopeful that these businesses will bounce back strongly once this crisis passes and in the meantime we all get the benefit of their teams’ collective experience.

    Edit: as already mentioned above.
