$173…holy smokes! It's not even a cheap piece of crap!
Cheap full-suspension bikes are really heavy.

Gotta love this question in the questions section
Q:
Can you attach a child seat to this bike?=double fatality
you win this thread, sir.
=double fatality
if the child survives - maybe it would be a "Babality"
If you really wanna go cheap: $98 BigW http://www.bigw.com.au/sports-leisure/bikes/bikes/adult-bike…
Any suggestion for a good MTB also will be carrying a 2 yo? $150 ish
I went to BigW in QV Shopping Centre CBD and they got some mountain bikes (you can choose the size) same brand as this deal also they got them with off road and normal tires.
I think that the second option is more suitable for you. Thanks for the suggestion
I don't know about $150ish but I've seen these on sale around the $200 mark when my bike shop has their annual big sale:
http://www.orbea.com/au-us/bicis/modelos/tuareg/#presentacio…
I'd much prefer a good quality brand name bike purchased during an end of season sale.
My first ride was (still is) a 2009 Giant CRX3 since it seems to be the Toyota of the bicycle world. I don't know why, eyes keep going to Orbea. So think it'll be my next bike :)
Hmm I hope the quality of the bikes is better than the quality of the SHI. Woodworm umbrellas
Don't do it. Seriously.
If you have any inclination to start off road cycling, this will probably put you off for life. It will be heavy, clunky, and fall to bits in no time. Bikes (both mountain & road) are one of those things where you really do get what you pay for….up to a point - there are some silly priced bikes in both categories, where the 'improvements become ever more marginal.
For off road bikes that you really intend to use on a regular basis, I would certainly recommend saving up & spending a few more $$ - $4-600 would get a decent bike which would last and make it much more enjoyable. But don't look for full suspension at that price…
…and maybe look at secondhand? If you're looking for a horrible bike, you could buy this… or you could buy the $60 (?) piece of junk from Kmart (posted a couple of hours ago) and save the change.
Actually, the Kmart bike is almost certainly better to ride. Bad suspension is much, much worse than no suspension. Flexy, heavy, sloppy, energy-sapping waste of money. The Kmart option will be lighter for you to carry out to the hard rubbish pile in a few years.
I like the look of this bike and the price is probably what I'd pay for a bike but all these comments put me off :|
edit: it would be used for street/road
Stick to bikes with front suspension only. Full suspension sounds good, but as stated above … it saps your pedal power, and you end up transferring energy to get a slight comfort increase… (and the latter part is debatable..) It's just a gimmick.
Stick to bikes with front suspension only
If at all possible, lose the front suspension too.
It's just not required on-road (many high-end suspension forks have a "lockout" function so you can stop the suspension action when riding on smooth surfaces, which should tell you something - you're even better off without good suspension on-road, let alone suspension that's just for show). Off-road, cheap suspension works poorly.
Unless you've got minimum $400 to spend just on a suspension fork (and you can pay much more than that), you're buying a gimmick that does nothing to improve handling or comfort… just adds weight and flex. Even after it jams.
Mountain bike not for off-road? What the fish!
Wow, loving oz bargain right now, not just for the bargains, but for the great advice. Always read the comments before picking up a deal.
I like the fact it's been categorised in "health & beauty"…because it's obviously not a sporting piece
sounds good to me, don't need a light bike cause there are no hills nearby and it meets the safety standards. Should be fine for the road.
looks crapola, dont buy it for yourself or anyone you care about!
