Its a matter of perspective … literally.

I'm sitting ~2 feet from my 34" monitor, it is huge, any bigger and I would need to sit further back otherwise I would need to dart my eyes and head around to see everything. If you were to game on a 75" monitor, you would need to be like 10 feet away for it to be comfortable.

In addition to this why are you play 1440p on a 4k TV? This is not the native resolution and you will see picture quality & performance issues. Your PC should have enough grunt to play 4k, but may notice some drops in latency etc. These may all be minor and you might be fine, but you cant sit at a 75" TV on a computer desk like you normally would.

    • No, his PC would be spitting out a 4K resolution to the TV. The in-game resolution would be set at 1440p so that he can maintain Higher Settings and Higher Framerate.

…but it feels like a waste!
At that distance, going 4K in-game resolution would be useless, most people can't see it. Going for Higher Settings sounds more reasonable, but most people won't see it at those distances (think: pixel peeping). And lastly Higher Framerates are going to be pointless since his TV will be a 60Hz unit with some fake 120Hz/240Hz feature, will lack Active Synchronisation, not to mention the high latency issues. A 27" PC Monitor is actually larger than a 75" TV, depending on how closely you're positioned. So it even loses its size advantage.

So you might be thinking, why would anyone choose a TV over a Monitor?
      The only valid reasons are:
      - your budget (if you already have a TV)
      - your room (no space for a PC Desk)
      - your body comfort (if you prefer "couch slanting" instead of "chair hunching")

      • "A 27" PC Monitor is actually larger than a 75" TV, depending on how closely you're positioned"

In terms of what? Proximity of edge bezels to peripheral vision limits if you sit ~30cms from the screen.

edit - gaming is so much better on a giant screen from 10ft a, even at FHD for everything but RTS

1440p at 75" probably wont look great. Also, ghosting is a big problem on TVs compared to monitors. I guess going from console to pc on a tv you wouldnt notice much, but going from 144hz monitor to a TV would absolutely suck ass. IMO seems like a waste using a 3700x and 2070S on a TV. Highly rec a decent pc monitor

    • It's not that bad and each screen has it's pros and cons.

      I use a 34" 100Hz ultrawide, a 24.5" 240hz and a 55" 60Hz 4K.

Then you wouldn't have spent "your entire life" playing on 70"+ screens…

  • ive had a 70" for then last 10 years up until 2016, then bought a sony 75". you say i couldnt spent my entire life. i never said my age did i? ;)

You've done well to have a mortgage and job at the age of 14. Me, I was still in high school.

playing console games my entire life on 70"+ screens.

      • Maybe he got a head injury and memory loss just before he bought that 70" tv.

        You dont know his circumstances.

  • Generally it’s not recommended to use a TV for gaming for obvious reasons like motion handling, response time and input lag. But believe it or not, the X90F series are excellent at those areas for a TV, for eg input lag at 1440p/120Hz is just 13.3ms, while it’s a far cry from a 1ms TN panel, it’s an amazing number for a TV and you would hardly notice unless you play competitive fast-paced FPS on a 144Hz/1ms frequently like I do.
If you have to play PC on a TV, the Sony X90 and above might as well be the one for it. Otherwise though, It’s recommended to get a proper monitor.

    • Really it's just fast paced games. For Tetris Effect or Nex Machina it's much better playing on low persistence high hertz screens.

cool story…. you have the tv already. sitting here waiting your report.

  • i plan on keeping my xbox one x, my main reason for getting a pc is because ive always wanted euro truck sim2 and american truck sim. those games arnt very demanding and i might be able to run at 4k on that gpu. the requirements are only a 760.

Maybe become a real truckie? The graphics should be really good with no frame drops. :)

      • +1

yeah i can learn on the game then i can get a real truck and help deliver toilet paper lol

    • Easy run at 4K. With supersampling even (game renders at higher res than screen).

  • and a report you shall get.

    • You're not replying to the comments mate.

what comment do you want me to reply to?

  • Just making sure, you are using a hdmi cable right? Yellow rca cables are terrible for almost everything.
