Why don’t you get rid of all the made in China stuff in your house first? Let me know how many items you have left once done.

How stupid is this comment? GROW UP!

    • +4

Closet racist? Actually, scrap that, you're no longer in the closet.

      • +2

Had to come out because the closet was made in China too.

    • +1

U should say that without clothes which made in China and standing on grass cos all house materials are made in China. So CHILDISH. Grow up little puppy.

    • +1

      Great.
Can’t wait to see pics of your China-free household.

I appreciate the sentiment, but learning a language is for your own good. China as a country, no worries. Chinese as people, same as anyone else. China as a government…well, they're not shy about abusing their power and their people.

If you really have a problem with Chinese goods, then that's fine. You just need to apply that consistently.

    • Is that true there are more racists in Brisbane or bigger QLD?

      • -1

Unfortunately it is indeed the case, and most are under-educated easily influenced by brainless politicians. Sad.

The pricing suggests Japanese will be the more useful language :)

    • Or it’s the economies of scale? More people buying the Chinese language versions

how do you order bat soup in chinese?
    请给我蝙蝠汤

    • +4

Please stop this stupid rumour. There is no such "bat soup" in China. The widely spread picture with a Chinese girl having bat soup was taken in Palau. She was a blogger and wanted to show the local culture. And people have been eating bats in Palau for a very long time without safety issues.

It's a shame I have to be on the platform that the App was made for to get it. I miss out on freebies because I can't get home to use my iPad to get the App. It's one of the better things about the Android system. I can get an app and target the device I want to install it on.

Pro tip if you're going to learn. Kanji are not words, they only use them because they dont use spaces.

      • +2

Wiki says the same thing I just did; they're logographic script, not words on their own. Study them individually and you just waste your time. Learn words and grammar, then you can read.

        • Wiki says the same thing I just did; [kanji are] not words on their own.

The Wiki said nothing of the sort.

Chinese characters also came to be used to write Japanese words, resulting in the modern kana syllabaries.

In modern Japanese, kanji are used to write parts of the language (usually content words) such as nouns, adjective stems, and verb stems,

a single kanji may be used to write one or more different words

The tō-on readings occur in some later words, such as isu

On'yomi primarily occur in multi-kanji compound words

Kanji occurring in compounds (multi-kanji words)

          and many more.

Well then, why don't you edit the Wiki and correct these glaring mistakes, Japanese language expert?

And don't forget to tell the Chinese that their pure logographic script are not words but time wasters.

Learn words and grammar, then you can read.

What a superfluous comment. This applies to any language, even programming languages.

        • +1

Pretty much correct. But also it's quite important to understand the meaning of each character (i.e. kanji, or Chinese character) in a word, so you know how a word is formed, and in some cases, you can infer the word meaning by just interpreting each character - similar to roots in Latin languages. There are some situations that a character can be a word by itself as well, both in Japanese and Chinese.

  • Thanks OP.
