With the reports in the forums that some telcos call centres are currently closed down, are telcos still doing porting of numbers and which providers would be most reliable?
Porting Phone Number in Current Environment
Comments
Ported Telstra post-paid to Vodafone pre-paid on Sunday, port happened within 15mins or so. Then ported to Boost and the port stuffed up somehow. Took 52mins on the phone today to resolve it, he re-actioned the port and I was ported over within 5mins.
I just ported from optus to voda couple hours ago, no problem
I ported a family member from Kogan to Belong today at 1pm. Was done in 20 minutes.
Thanks for the info guys, looks like things are all good
Tried to port from Kogan to Boost about 2 weeks ago. CSR says it'll take another 2 weeks.
Wanted to switch from Boost to Telstra (purchased prepaid SIM with $300 credit) whilst keeping the same mobile number.
Called up Telstra. Was told after 20 min wait that I will need to go to a Telstra store, get my number ported onto a blank SIM, then call the customer care and get the $300 credit moved on to this new blank SIM.
Went to the Telstra store after a couple of days, got a blank prepaid max SIM in.
Called Telstra customer care, someone answered after 40 min wait, told them the story and was put on wait for 10 min, then was told they are going to port the number to $300 SIM.
It did work after about 12 hrs.
Moral of the story: It is slow but things are working.
I'm facing porting delay from Circles.Life to Catch (both are on Optus network). It has been a week now since the initial activation and porting request. There was no porting delay 2 weeks ago when I ported another number from Circles.Life to Catch. It took 2 working days.
I was told that the Optus porting team is operating out of India and due to COVID-19, India is on lock down and the team has now been reduced significantly. The same network porting process is manual and with a reduced team, it would take much longer.
Since they can't tell when the porting would happen, I tried to port from Circles.life to Telstra today. Guess what? Telstra's online identity verification is down and no SIM activation is allowed.
ported from catch to lebara on monday, port went through in about 10 minutes
I'm having trouble porting out of Circles.Life too. I tried porting to Telstra which failed and I am now trying to port to amaysim which is taking longer than usual.
I got the same story from Boost - porting tech team are in lockdown in India and they can only email them with a request. no idea on when it will be done. I'm up to three weeks tryng to port out of catch to boost ($300 Sim).
I ported from Kogan to Catch Connect in the late afternoon yesterday. No issues at all and went through in about 10 minutes.
Kogan to Catch Connect today less than 10 mins.
Merged from Can't Activate/Port into Boost Mobile, Anyone Else Have Same Problem?
I bought the 120GB offer a few months ago and has been trying to port in, but the website keep saying Get Help, and then live chat wasn't available and phone call wait was over 30 mins due to the COVID it says.
I thought of just waiting for a few days, maybe it will fixed itself, then after a week, I decided to call and wait the line. The support guy said he also can't activate it and have to escalate it. After a few days, it is still not activated, so I call again, and the new guy does not know anything about the error, and said he also can't activate it and have to escalate it. This was 3 days ago. I don't know what else to do. Thoughts?
Just for future reference, I have also just start activate porting process from amaysim to catch earlier at WST10am, still waiting, fingers crossed.
Will also be porting from Kogan to Amaysim later today.FYI, Amaysim to Catch ported in 2 hours, no issues.
FYI, Kogan ported to Amaysim in 5mins, but I had to contact amaysim live chat to do it as there's issues with my account.
Thanks for the info. I will port from Catch to Kogan, Amaysim to Kogan, Catch to Amaysim for my 3 phone number this month.
Telstra has just announced they will not port landlines for the time being, but mobiles are OK
