Arigato Mr Roboto
That would be Arigato Roboto San :-)
woosh!
domo arigato mr robato
Well especially now that you don't even get one seat
Lol yeh just don't go.
Your loss - it's really good ramen.
there's lot of alternatives, even better ones.
I'm interested, where are they?
@MagicMushroom: No point recommending any if you don't tell us where you live
@kerfuffle: Melbourne
@MagicMushroom: Easy! Ikkoryu, Shujinko, Little Ramen Bar, Hakata Gensuke … even Ippudo's sister shop in Fitzroy, Gogyo (classier version of Ippudo). My favourite is Shujinko as the Russell Street one is open 24/7 (dunno if that's still the case with the new rules)
Avoid Ajisen like the plague.
@kerfuffle: Ikkoryu and Shyjinko looks tasty to me, will try. Once the time comes..
@MagicMushroom: Ikkoryu's great for customer service and the whisky bar next door; I didn't get to go when I was in town last week sadly
There's a few Hakata Gensuke outlets; I haven't been, but I hear the Russell Street one is the best one
@kerfuffle: Been to all of these multiple times, I rate Ippudo the highest.
@achyd1: Then this deal is perfect for you!
@MagicMushroom: gumshara
gogyo : http://ippudo.com.au/gogyo/
Ramen Zundo
These are some of the best i had. I'm sure there are more.
@sangohan: Apart from Gogyo (which is currently closed), those suggestions aren't of much help to MagicMushroom as they're from Melbourne, which is why I asked what city they lived in …
As a fellow Sydneysider, I agree with your suggestions
Do they separate noodles? Otherwise sogggy
Yes they do
I'm going to assume this is the same promo they run on their birthdays where the serving size is actually quite a bit less than the usual. Scummy practice for sure.
The one piece of chashu is a bit stingy though.
Desperate times.
One piece of pork guys? Cmon that's pretty stingy…almost an insult.
This is going to have to be a no from me
Chashu is the worst part of a good ramen. Broth and noodles are king.
Tried this during the other promotion. Quite enjoyed it to be honest. Probably one of the better chains.
not a bargain if its smaller size and one less piece of meat
Gumshara is doing microwavable packs of ramen in addition to their frozen ramen for $16 each.
my plan today is to get Ippudo & Gumshara takeaway, then take half of the Chasu from Gumshara and add it to the Ippudo ramen. Lunch & Dinner sorted (:
Their ramen isn't that great. No wonder they need to reduce price….
Ryo's, Yasaka, Ramen Zundo, Ichiban Boshi … Sydney CBD is spoilt for choice! Unfortunately my working in inner-city Sydney means Ippudo is my nearest outlet. The Shiromaru Motoaji tastes a lot better (and is spicier than their actual spicy ramen) when you spike it with lots of chilli oil. The good thing about the Shiromaru Motoaji is that it always arrives within minutes of ordering
Don't have too many good things to say about their systems and processes. I went there for lunch with my wife and some friends. They lost one of our order taking 50mins for my wife's order and she had to leave to go back to work. They refused to allow take away so I had to deliver her lunch from somewhere else.
The quality and quantity has declined at Ippudo compared to when they first opened. Don't go there anymore.
Now i frequent (prior to Covid19) Tontaro Honten on Sussex St, bit of a walk to get there from work but well worth it.
^^^ Might check it out this week
I've been going to Yasaka Ramen @ 126 Liverpool St.
Takeaway only from Monday, as per Govt. requirements.
Yea, one slice of Cha-shu is stingy.
Yasaka is one of my favourites for spicy ramen and they FINALLY have EFTPOS after like five years!
Re: Yasaka
Had the $15 lunch deal today, consisting of 1 ramen (soup and noodles in separate containers), one side (goyza or karage) and a lemon tea.
CASH ONLY 😅
One of the best takeaway ramen IMO.
Still fresh and warm when I got back to office (10mins later). 🤤
@PoKGuy: Still cash? What? D: They said that part of their refurbishment was so they could accommodate card payments (all their other outlets take card, which is really infuriating) …
If you're game, try the Level 3 Spicy Ramen! It's basically a million chilli flakes and seeds ahahaha
@kerfuffle: Yes, a big hand written sign at the counter "CASH ONLY".
+++ Smiley customer service and upbeat attitude.
Will return later this week for another serving.
Hmmm, being in a corporate office, it's best to bypass the spicy lunch option 😆
@PoKGuy: Guess they have teething issues; Ichiban Boshi was the same when they finally brought in Albert to take card payments
overrated franchise. overpriced food. average quality. pass
I second that.
In one of the lunch specials in Westfield Pitt Street (Sydney CBD store), we found a moth in the salad…
"Would you like another salad?"
My friend and I: Err.. can we have something else?
Edamame beans were boiled to oblivion, almost ready to make bean mash :\
Manpuku is much, much better but further locations :(
$10 is acceptable for Ippudo, but.. I wouldn't drive all the way there to get it.
How much does this normally cost?
From $16 for the Shiromaru Motoaji
Made an account after lurking for a long time just to comment that this Ramen chain is super average and is not worth $10 imo
Just got this from Chatswood and it was a rip off, the chashu piece wouldn't even choke a baby being how small it was.
Noodles and soup was below average compared to the other ramen joints available in Chatswood.
Sad news: Ippudo are now temporarily closed.
Unfortunate but understandable
For a short period of time?
