Looking for Recommendation on a Colour Printer with Cheap Generic Refills

Looking for recommendation on a Colour Printer, can be Inkjet or Laser as long as generic ink cartridge/toner are cheap and reliable.

I currently own:

  • Brother HL-1110 Laser Printer for B/W Printing
  • Canon MP630 Inkjet Printer for Colour Printing (which died on me today, spitting out error B200) - Replacement Cartridge are ~$1 each.

Only need the colour printer when family members need to print assignments, photos, etc.

Would also be great if the printer has:

  • a scanner
  • can do duplex printing
  • wireless printing

      Spent a few hours this afternoon trying various troubleshooting techniques with no luck.

      I've cleaned the Printer Heads, replace ink cartridges, redownloading drivers etc.

      Considering the Printer is over 10 years old, might be time for an upgrade.

    Check out Epson printers with the EcoTank. You can legit buy some cheap offbrand bottles of ink and squirt it into the printer's fill port. Cheaper and easier refilling than ever

    You can get a new printhead from AliExpress or eBay for around $40 to $50 and give a new life to the printer - much lower than the price of a new printer with similar capability. I have a MP530 for more than 10 years and with a new printhead, it is working fine. I am paying for replacement ink cartridge around $2.00 each and would be interested where you source yours.

      Issue is that I'm not 100% sure if it the printer head or another problem, so don't really want to spend ~$40 if it doesn't fix the printer.

      As for replacement ink cartridge, it appears that the MP530 and MP630 uses different ink cartridge. I usually get my ink on eBay in bulk (20x Ink Cartridges for ~$20).

        For mine, it was printing only one color even with new cartridges (that was after removing the printhead and clean), so it was clearly the printhead problem. This had also confirmed by the B200 error code.

          I've cleaned the printer head thoroughly, but the Printer was still spitting out Error Code B200.

          As soon as I turn the printer on, the error code appears so can't even test printer anything.

    Did you end up getting a new one yet? I'm in the same boat, Canon mg5560 is printing double text and none of the troubleshooting works.

        A continuous inkjet printer is still an inkjet, which mean it must consume ink regularly to flush the print heads even when you do no printing, and the print heads can still clog. Also check the service guide on how to replace and clean the waste ink pad and receptacle.

        A laser printer can be left idle or powered off for extended period without problem and without consuming toners. But check how often and how much to replace its imaging drum and waste bottle. It may be uneconomical to replace these two consumables.

      any laser printer from brother brand
      my personal view, i dont like fuji xerox
      if i have $ i will get samsung
