Brb, applying for a job in health care now

    • register for your bushfire and covid19 shifts too.

      • +22

Bushfires. I remember those. Such a simpler time.

        • Are you on RFS? Thats easy to join. Lease you a free fire suit with no rental fee.
Paramedic might be too hard for you?

        • When something worst comes along we're quick to forget the past bad experience even if it wasn't that long ago.

    • trust me - with what they pay - you are better off not working for a hospital

    • -3

Nandos has gone downhill big time. NOt worth even with 50%. Tried everything on the menu

      • Reported for hate speech

  • -3

lol so it excludes catering, delivery, online orders and eat-in.

    • It doesn't mention anything about excluding eat-in..
They probably exclude delivery and online orders as they need to see your ID.

      • +11

Restaurants aren't currently allowed to offer eat-in.

        • ahh ok my bad, I still see people eating in restaurants so didn't think it was happening just yet

          • -3

            @Stingray: It is active now.

I think this deal is not the best unless you are desperate. So you need to physically go there and then order (as they don't take phone orders) and then wait for them to make the entire thing and then you have to take the food and eat it elsewhere (probably at home, as shopping centres are closing down their foot court seating). That is assuming you pass their questionable eligibility conditions as judged by the person serving you.

But historically speaking I have experienced Nando's taking a LONG time to make the food in some occasions. It makes sense as it can be complicated to make your particular order of chicken and then all the side(s) you get.

    • Would you rather be standing in the centrelink queue alongside a lot of other people this morning?

        • +13

When you are work in a hospital and you have people coughing all over you looking for the corona clinic, that is when i'd be happy answering phone calls

        • +6

Longer days that you get paid an hourly rate for? Longer days meaning that your job is very secure? WTF are you whinging about?

          • +4

@WhatWouldBiggieDo: Whinging about not getting recognition.

@MDJ91 - Thankyou for your brave and heroic service answering phone calls.

          • -7

@WhatWouldBiggieDo: Oh so healthcare workers don't get paid?? yeah cool

        • Getting smashed today :(

It still doesn't make up for all those other times when staff (not you specifically) at Services Australia treats other people like shit knowing they have no choice but to cop it. The people that come in are not "clients" or "customers". They are fellow humans and Australians seeking help.

      • +13

Getting double their allowance for doing nothing? I'm putting my life and my family at risk by rocking up to work everyday and potentially getting corona because I work in healthcare. Yet these bums are going to be making almost the same as me and I'd probably be the one to pay the extra taxes for fund this

        • +1

+designated covid hospital workers can't even get proper hazmat suit atm coz no money.

Most public hospital doctors are getting paid like 30% of USA, rocking enormous OT as well. While media and the gov even slashed their meal benefit highlighting lavish lifestyle of top 1% surgeon.

        • Come on mate it’s not that dire yet. I’ve worked the covid19 fever clinic shifts in ED doing the swabbing - we are still being given PPE and just change into a pair of scrubs and shower before changing back into normal clothes….

          • +2

@paraneoplastic: Yeah but you could be home getting paid the same amount.

You're saying that it's not sure now but looking at the numbers if idiots keep going out when they should be staying at home this will grow exponentially like in Italy.

            • +1

@edumacation: I think we as doctors have a moral obligation to help when we a fit and able… Irrespective of teh money

And to be honest, i actually quite enjoy swabbing people - it's like playing darts and then reacting fast enough to get 1.5m away to dodge the sneeze

              • @paraneoplastic: I have no problems with going to work, it's the people that aren't doing their part and are spreading it and then expect to be given extra cash because they are told to stay home

        • Best place to be at the moment is stood down on JobKeeper.
What other kind of system gives let's you get paid without doing any work, without having to use your leave, and still have job security.

Oh but at least private companies are giving our heroes a free coffee …

"show their pre-approved Healthcare industry or Emergency Services photo identification card at the counter to redeem the offer"

has anyone got a pre-approved Healthcare industry or Emergency Services photo identification card? Which healthcare people are included?

    • The email body says "rock up in uniform", the T+Cs say "show ID" 🤷‍♂️

    • NSW health ID for us

      • -4

how is it contact free if you have to show your id?

        • +8

          Show, not hand over.

          • -3

@John Kimble: So they won't try to touch it, lean forward to inspect it or violate my 1.5 metre minimum space when it is waved at them from a distance - I want to believe…. but the file still reads pre- approved - so how does that work without inspection from closer than 1. 5 metres?

  • +11

I work in radiology. you beauty, can feed the family cheaper this week. hopefully they stay open

    • -8

Your whole family is made up of healthcare and emergency service members?

Come work in Emergency Department then buddy. See if we deserve these ‘circle jerk deals’. (profanity).

      • Try driving a bus all day exposed to countless passengers who can't seem to work out social distancing.

  • Your local covid hospital hiring atm in case you need a job + half price Nandos.

  • +17

Eligible customers just need to rock up in uniform

Sexy land has Nurse in stock

    • I don't need no costume, cos I'm a sexy doc already
Too hot for you to handle

  • +1

What does pre-approved ID means? What is the process of pre-approval?

    • +1

Suppose it just means the usual photo ID issued by the employer.

  • +3

Thank-you. Kids will have to get used to Nando's for a while.

  • +2

Works just got $50 worth of Na dos for $25, I did feel kinda bad though - they aren’t making a profit on this at all. Great gesture by Nando’s.

    • +7

But at least they are reducing their losses I guess, chances are you wouldn't have bought from them otherwise.

    • +1

You'd be surprised… done right food costs are actually a small percentage of the cost of running a restaurant

  • so are these stores still open now? I'm confused. I thought restaurants and cafes are shut now nationwide and only allowed delivery.

    • +2

YOU CAN STILL GET YOUR NANDO’S FIX!

Our kitchens are still open to serve your favourites via take away or delivery.

      • ah, yes, takeaway. thanks.

  • +3

alright, I knew my sexy fireman costume will come in handy

    • Doesn't it always? 😉

  • Teachers ?

    Certainly on the front line….

    • -4

I can't reveal my true identity but let me just say teachers create A LOT more health issues than they solve! I hope your forced to pay 200%…

      • +1

Intriguing…would you care to elaborate on this? (am genuinely interested to know why that's the case)

        • -5

You think the other students bullying you is bad, try taking it from the teachers as well! (That's all I can say)

      • +2

        you're*
        :D

    • They're not sorry.

      • We will be in the frontline from Monday.

    • Essential yes but not frontline.

Unless you’re directly treating Covid-19 patients, I wouldn’t call it frontline.

  • -8

My husband is a chef in a nursing home and apparently this doesn’t count. How shit

    • "chef in a nursing home"

I'm still trying to get around that oxymoron. ;)

before returning to our standard 20% off for all Healthcare industry

    Who knew about this?

    • Not I. Is it deal worthy?

      • +1

Looks like it is relatively new. I don't remember receiving any notice of it though. I found this in their T&Cs:

        20% Emergency Services Discount Offer
Receive 20% off Nando’s purchases for pre-approved emergency services customers. Offer valid between 14 January 2020 and 31 December 2022. Offer valid at stated restaurant only. Must show your pre-approved emergency services identification card at the counter with purchase to redeem offer. One offer per customer per day while stocks last. Not valid with any other offer unless specified otherwise. Excludes catering, delivery and online orders. Cannot be exchanged or redeemed or substituted for cash. Subject to applicable laws, Nando’s may vary, update or terminate this offer at any time. PERi-Perks points cannot be earned or redeemed with this offer.

        • +2

          Yeah it’s definitely new.
Wore scrubs out (was in theatre then on call that night) to nando’s with ID obviously showing
No discount - this was in 2019

  • +1

    Cheers Nandos.

  • -4

This is sounds kind of wrong but would it be better if this offer available for people who don't have a job because of Corona virus?

    • +1

      Kinda hard to prove though?

  • Dinner is sorted tomorrow now!

    • -1

      Won't it go cold?

  • Can anyone share the online ordering link from the email?

    • Why? It's the same as if you went via their website?

      • The T&C's exclude online orders so I assumed that to receive the 50% discount you need to use the link provided in the email.

        • There is no special link. The offer is not available for online orders. How would I have a special link, how would they verify my ID (Not that I'm eligible anyway).

How do I redeem this offer?

Rock up in uniform or show your pre-approved Healthcare industry and Emergency Services photo identification card at the counter to redeem this offer. Sorry, it’s not available for catering, delivery or online orders.

          • @John Kimble: Yeh I saw that, but then it says

"Takeaway: Simply order online below and we’ll make your order for pick-up at your nearest Nando’s."

and has a big order online button at the bottom.

Guessed they would verify healthcare ID at pickup.

            • +1

@bamzero: My interpretation is that last section is generic and unrelated to the 50% off offer (separated by the grey line) so, is addressing everyone else who is not eligible.

YOU CAN STILL GET YOUR NANDO’S FIX!

Our kitchens are still open to serve your favourites via take away or delivery.

Takeaway: Simply order online below and we’ll make your order for pick-up at your nearest Nando’s. We also encourage you to request ‘contact-free’ pick up if you prefer this. • +1

@John Kimble: Yep, guess you're right.

I thought maybe was just conflicting info (like in the body says you can just wear your uniform, but T&Cs say need to show ID)
(Saw a comment on here where someone went in with uniform only and got rejected so seems even staff aren't clear on that ;) The pharmacists commenting on there aren't happy as apparently they've been excluded from the deal.)

BTW, heard from others in healthcare that Zambreros is also doing the 50% discount, though haven't been able to find any info online about it.

  • +2

I emailed Nando's and based on their reply, they have no idea who is eligible.

    • Care to share their reply?

      • +3

They are absolutely clueless. If HQ doesn't understand the terms, then good luck having a sh*tty store manager understand the terms. What will happen in reality is that you get to the store and try to redeem and they will make up some reason why you aren't eligible.

The fact HQ doesn't understand the terms makes me conclude this was purely a BS marketing exercise.
