Still wondering about the HomePod 2. What to do what to do…

    • $550-$600 for the new same sized HomePod
Or a smaller one for $400 (speculations are there might be a smaller HomePod with poor sound more smart features)

Nah $298 is good for a proper sized HomePod wt all smart features that are needed.

      What HomePod 2?

    • Wait til you hear about the features of HomePod 3!

  • Very good speaker if you are in the Apple camp. I have one in my bathroom and one on my deck. They aren’t waterproof but as long as they are away from direct moisture they work fine.

Keep in mind you can't use these as a regular Bluetooth speaker.

  • Still can't use Siri with google play music can you?

  • Pretty much out of stock for all Officeworks near me and doesn't take online order.

  • Still waiting for the long promised/discussed Spotify integration. I recently cancelled my Apple Music since it felt unnecessary. Shrug. At the moment I use my numerous google mini nest mini speakers much more vs my HomePod.

I heard this speaker is not even half smart as google max or mini

Siri is poop but it spanks other speakers as a speaker.

      • bingo. Speaker is great, and if you are invested in Apple ecosystem (software and hardware) it's great. I like using it as a speaker for my Apple TV. But the Siri intelligence/ability to do anything remotely useful lets it down.

Yeah but personally what I do with my speaker about 99% of the time is use it for audio or ask it things like “what’s the time”, “is it going to rain tonight”, “turn off kitchen lights” , “set a timer”. I pretty much never ask it “who was the first prime minister of Antarctica”.

I also find with the smart home stuff HomePod is way snappier. My alexas take so long to action my smart home commands usually I’ve started repeating myself because I thought it didn’t hear me. I think because the homepod does it over the local network.
