Where to find Second Hand Server Cabitnets and Unwanted Servers?

Hi Guys,

Ive come across a few servers that are in good working condition, but I found that I dont have anywhere to house them. So I am looking for an old 4RU Cabinet and if someone has an old server with 2 1000GB NIC in it I'd be interested to talking to them. At this stage I'm probably only going to be using them for testing and lab environments, as I cant get additional IP's for this little setup. But once I have things sorted, I'd like to take them into a D/C under a collocation in Sydney. Any ideas where I would pickup old and unwanted stuff?

    You can find lots of second hand goods on ebay, gumtree and Facebook marketplace.

    Is it worth it? Why don't you start with VMs?

      1000GB - Typo, I meant 2 x 1Gbit and at this point, I’m not looking to make a lot of money out of them. So I don’t want to be spending tonnes either.

      The one that is coming is a freebie from a family member who doesn’t have time to do anything with it himself. The one I’m chasing for cheap is to run pfsense firewall on it.

      The main one I will be splitting into 4 VM’s anyway, I think I’m going to have to buy me a rack for all of this.

          Absolutely - the VM’s won’t be usable by the outside world, due to lack of IP’s. This is just a test environment before I move the whole rig into a d/c and buy a /24 of IP’s. Turns out APNIC is pretty pricey, particularly the ongoing costs.
