PLayed my first RE game - RE2 remake. Loved it.
I've heard RE4 is good. Had a look and the gfx are pretty outdated - might get turned off. Does the gameplay make up for it? I'm hoping they just remake this in the near future
4 had a few tweaks / new textures for the current gen port. Everything is very brown and grey but it looks OK in play
Brilliant game, think I've finished it 5 times now.
My favourite. The merchant is a highlight. Turns up at the most random places.
RE4 is the game the sequels and remakes took inspiration from.
Very solid over the shoulder shooter, that feels dated because it's been copied and improved upon for the last 14years.
Game play is fantastic
It's more action game than survival horror, so it will have very different tone to part 2
Quite campy as well
It's a classic and a must buy
Do not play 5&6 though
Re4 gets the balance right, 5&6 go off the cliff

No need. 4 is a pretty stand alone story
I'd play 4 first, to cleanse the palette.
I didn't get fully into part 3 because I had played so much re2 & Dino crisis I just wasn't in the more of thee same.
I believe if you play 3 after 2, you'll just feel like you're just playing 2, for a bit longer.
If you switch the style up. It will seem fresh and interesting when you come back to it.

I agree! It still looks great on the new consoles, and mercenaries is fantastic. I would probably steer clear of RE6 though, it was a slog.
