Bonus 10GB Bonus Mobile Data @ Boost Mobile

Thank you Telstra & Boost! After seeing this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/524638 from Twix I thought i'd try entering my Boost pre-paid mobile number (and my wife's too) to see if Telstra were also giving bonus data to Boost customers. We are on the $150 plan and both received a text this afternoon saying "Your 10GB bonus data to use within Australia has been added to your service." It has also appeared on my My Boost account as Bonus Data at the bottom of the My Boost page & the expiry for mine says 17/4.

The previous post said Boost wasn't included so I thought this deserved a post of it's own even though the link is the same, but feel free to remove this mods if you don't think it does.

  • Anyone received the bonus data ? How long it took for it to apply to your account?

  • In case people getting confused as its not clear on what to do:
    a. Go to that op link and there is section where you put your phone number. select android or ios and you get sms on downloading telstra app
    b. register or login
    c. then in the app it is clear link with covid-19. you then fill it out with your numbers.

    Not sure the rest :). presumably you get data.

      you should see a form asking first name, last name, and enter all the mobile numbers you are registering.

      I got to it by going incognito in chrome on desktop…

      • Thanks. I tried but doesn't come up. its odd. either way, approach i mentioned worked for me. i guess its a backup process if you can't see it

      No sms yet for my 2 boost numbers after more than 12 hours registered.

      • Same here, over 12 Hrs but confirmation on this.

        • Got the SMS confirmation. So it does take close to 24 Hrs as indicated during registration.

    Why do you have to fill out a form? Makes it seem like a promo rather than a good deed.

    • You don't have to create Id, how about that. If you try previous links in incognito mode you can register. Not sure everyone get it though.

    I submitted my no this morning using the form,no telstra id needed, just name & mobile no. Now I see the bonus data on the app. No sms. Expires on 18/04/2020.

    No SMS confirmation but got the 10GB Bonus data, valid 28 days. The "Data Left" in your Boost App does not increase by 10, but just freezes as your Bonus Data usage kicks in. Tap on "Data Left" and see last row — mentions Bonus data left and valid till date.

    • Thanks for that, still no sms but I just checked via care.boost.com.au, all the way down the bottom, a new row saying Bonus Data 10GB expires 18th April, Woohoo !!!
      It will also uses this 10gb first before going back to your own data quota.

      • Try not to use the app, and just open a browser not on wifi and go care.boost.com.au instead, then check for this 10gb bonus data row.

      • When did you register at the link? Allow it some time. Mine appeared after almost 15 hours of registering at the link.

        It will eventually be credited.

  • Hmm how long does it take to receive an sms or did everyone get the bonus without the sms notification?

    • I didn't get SMS but saw it right down the bottom via care.boost.com.au

    Thank You for posting this. Successfully registered for additional data for free for two of my Boost mobile numbers.

          Ok confirmed, the bonus data has gone down.

  • Got the text and it shows up in my boost app as expiring 18/4/20. From past experiences bonus data should be used first.

  • Very funny, received sms just now finally, but thats after I confirmed the 10gb from my account. Anyway Boost and Telstra really look after their customers, TPG is absolutely hopeless, no response via email, no phone support or online chat, not helping their customers by giving those on limited ADSL2+ unlimited data temporary. After so many years with them, now they are forcing me to leave!

    Yay got it … 10gb bonus sms with 22 hours of registering.., so just need to be patient… I’d say they are busy with the virus .. everyone on OZ bargain be safe and well

  • I have received the confirmation text about the free 10gb but when i checked the Boost App and check my balance, it doesn't reflect it. Has anyone have the same issue? or do i need to wait longer?

    Sorry my bad, i found it under the bottom which says bonus data which expires on 19/4/2020

    • click your data remaining in boost app and scroll to the bottom

      • the boost app does nothing. No data gets filled.

        Yes, wifi is disabled, data is mobile data.

      • Already tried that, still no extra data

        • If I was in your situation I would probably resubmit your details via the form or the app, again and wait another 48 hours before contacting Telstra customer service. The offer runs until the end of the month.

    Can't find the form?

    If you're not seeing the form on PC, I'm finding when I click the link, it goes to the page and instantly redirects to another COVID information page.

    If you copy the URL https://say.telstra.com.au/customer/general/forms/COVID-19 and paste it in the address bar at the top it wont redirect are you can see the form fine.

    Tech note:
    The must be redirecting if there's a referrer address from another domain or something.

      I think they might have shut down the loophole after a few days.

  • PS - I activated a fresh $2 sim and tested this - sadly no dice!

    • You need to add a plan to the starter pack SIM you have activated first.

      Try using firefox and in private mode. It works for me

    • Don’t click the link and wait because it will redirect you to the Telstra main website. Copy the link website address and paste on your browser instead. Just don’t be disappointed if you register but get nothing because some here including me have not received the bonus data

      • Yeah same here, used the link in the OP with an incognito tab maybe 3 days ago, but no go on the bonus data so far.

  • Register for Telstra 24/7 online. Don't bother to login because it won't show anything. However, make sure you activate the account.
    Then install the Telstra app and it will show the COVID-19. You can then click and add your Telstra / Boost number

  • Rather than giving users more Data, I wish Boost would just run offer a discounted Recharge offer.

    Am hoping we can see Coles run a deal soon on this 365 day 80GB plan. (or with OW price match)

  • Looks like someone is editing this post, I'm pretty sure it said Expired yesterday but now it doesn't. The offer link in the OP does not mention prepaid services with an active $40+ recharge anymore, so it looks like the 10B data offer has expired for Telstra prepaid services, including Boost prepaid services.

    It was a tad sneaky of them to first extend the offer period to April 30th, but then change the terms to exclude prepaid services.
