Hi all
Anyone got any suggestions or have actually done research on using a prepaid sim to use in europe,uk,france italy etc.
Looking at the possibility of buying a sim in London to use around europe with reasonable costs, data not too important,or is it more cost effective to purchuse a new one in each country?
I am hoping to get other peoples views on this topic
Thanks all
SIM Card for Europe

The beauty of Europe is the fact that the EU have forced all telcos to cap the price of calls when in other countries. For us english speaking folks the easiest thing to do is buy a pre-paid sim card in the UK and use it everywhere you go in Europe. This will mean you have a number that starts with +44 and it costs a little more when making calls outside the country (but nothing in comparison with Australian mobile rates abroad). I found that T gave the best deal with data (you can buy 50mb packs) and calls are capped at a given rate. You can topup pre-paid online or if you are using an Aussie credit card you can do this in any newsagent or supermarket in the UK (e.g. Tesco) and it just works.
Be careful of the roaming charges for data,
http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=ho…Just looking at the data rate for Switzerland £7.50 per Mb.
Italy £1.532 per Mb.Cheaper than Aussie roaming rates but still extremely expensive.
Vodafone UK has europe data roaming 25mb/day for 2 pounds/day. Pretty good IMHO.
I'd totally recommend you trying Travelsim! It's international roaming sim card that works perfectly in Europe. I used it when I was traveling to France, Italy and Spain last summer and I was pretty satisfied with their rates.

Seems to be a lot of good choices in England. In England the sims are free. Some countries charge a bit so it's dependent on where you are going. I will be heading to England and a couple of other counties soon. Will most likely be getting a sim in each country mostly for data/gps.
