Recommend a Bedroom Projector for movies

Hi,

I'm looking for a projector to watch movies in my bedroom at night (so brightness not that important).

I was originally looking at the Philips Picomax from Indiegogo, but there was shipping delays and I didnt want to wait. This is great because it's small, and I can basically put it anywhere (e.g. on my bedside table and point it towards the wall at an angle and it projects a rectangular image on the wall.

Then I considered the Epson 5600, but realised that I need to mount it right on the wall behind my bed to get an image that is centered. I want to avoid having to mount.

Can anyone recommend me a good projector that is at least 720p (1080p would be great).

The requirements are:
- Easy connectivity. I will be using my Mac as a source to play downloaded movies or Netflix.
- Able to put the projector on the side of the room on my bedside table and project the image in the middle of the wall with the auto keystone correction.
- Resonable audio connection. It'll be great to be able to connect to a bluetooth speaker/headphone or at least plug in a 3.5mm.
- NO need for portability or batteries.

Thanks so much.

  • Anker have their own Capsule Projector which is very highly rated. Worth a look.

  • I've had a few projectors, and the main issue is setup and convenience.
A crappy $100 projector with a blurry, skewed, low res image can be pretty good when it lights up an entire wall. And a much better projector can stay unused if it needs to be positioned every time.

Short throw projectors are good (but pricey) because they stay out of the way, but bedside would be okay as long as you never have to touch them except to power on. Consider a permanently attached chromecast/appletv or laptop with a wireless kb&mouse.
