The XCOM 2: Collection includes the award-winning strategy game XCOM 2, the War of the Chosen expansion, and four DLC packs.

XCOM 2
Aliens rule Earth, promising a brilliant future for mankind while secretly hiding a sinister agenda. As the leader of a guerrilla force facing impossible odds, you must ignite a global resistance to eliminate the alien threat and save the hum race from extinction.

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen
The XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen expansion adds extensive new content in the fight against ADVENT when additional resistance factions form in order to eliminate the alien threat on Earth. In response, a new enemy, known as the “Chosen,” emerges with one goal: recapture the Commander. The expansion includes new Hero classes to counter the “Chosen”, new enemies, missions, environments and increased depth in strategic gameplay.

FOUR DLC PACKS
• Resistance Warrior Pack: Customize your squad of resistance fighters with a set of bonus outfits and head gear, as well as custom armor and face camo. Instantly unlock a survivor of the old war as a new recruit in your barracks.

• Anarchy’s Children: This rebellion-themed content pack introduces more than 100 new exotic customizations for the entire arsenal of armors available to your XCOM soldiers. These options are purely cosmetic and do not alter the stats of a soldier.

• Alien Hunters: Transform the soldiers of XCOM into an elite alien hunting squad with impressive new weapons and armor to face off against new alien Rulers that will pursue your squad across an entire campaign. Additional cosmetic upgrades to soldiers and the Avenger are included, as well as a new epic mission where Central Officer Bradford leads a squad with the guidance of an old friend.

• Shen’s Last Gift: Investigate ADVENT’s “Lost Towers” facility where Chief Engineer Lily Shen accompanies your squad in search of her late father’s secretive final project. Discover a unique new soldier class complete with powerful new combat abilities, strategy mechanics, and customization options.

Features:

  • XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM’s mobile headquarters. New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where to guide your strike team, how to grow popular support, and when to combat enemy counter-operations.
  • RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.
  • TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.
  • A NEW BREED OF ENEMY: A diverse cast of enemies from powerful new alien species to the ADVENT, enforcers of the alien regime, offer a distinct tactical challenge.
  • RESEARCH, DEVELOP AND UPGRADE: Configure and build rooms on the Avenger to give XCOM new capabilities on the battlefield. Use your Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor to fit your preferred tactics.
  • EACH MISSION IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE: Go on missions around the world, from wildlands to the heart of the alien-controlled megacities, to the depths of alien installations. There are virtually infinite combinations of maps, missions and goals.
  • CREATE CUSTOM MODS: Community-focused tools allow you to create your own campaign, tactical gameplay, aliens, classes, strategy game features, and share within the Steam Workshop.
  • ENGAGE IN HEAD-TO-HEAD MULTIPLAYER: Mix-and-match squads of humans and aliens and battle head-to-head on randomly-generated maps.

      Xcom or sex panther?

  • I wish I was better at these games.

Loved the hours I spent with them but i always end up making too many mistakes and end up screwed.
Find them too stressful actually. Same with rts and fire emblem games

    What's the secret?

The secret is play it on easy. If you're having fun that's all that matters. If you are playing on easy and it's still difficult, I can offer a few pointers about X2:
Grenadiers are very very good and you should bring 2 most missions (destroy enemy cover -> vastly increase hit chance)
Invest in GTS early to upgrade your recruits to class soldiers (grenadier, ranger etc). Much better accuracy on them!
Resistance ring is also very good for ranking up soldiers without doing many missions
Put a workshop in the [2,2] position. Allows you to staff the 4 adjacent tiles with engineers almost for free. Really efficient
Make sure you're always using weapon mods and PCS.
Don't send wounded/PTSD soldiers out; almost guaranteed panic + squad panic
Rush the squad size & plasma upgrades
Grand strategy wise don't worry too much about the avatar timer- it's very generous.
Tactics wise, try and have a concealed ranger/reaper scouting for the whole game so you can freely flank without fear of alerting nearby aliens

There's other things, but the gist of it is if you can survive the first ~10-15 missions, you're golden as that's the hardest part of the game.

      • I 50/50 seemed to trip the enemy's sensor and alert them all when trying to scout ahead with a ranger.
Couldn't seem to get the hang of it.

I was ok early on till the harder "timed" missions

Never forget getting 3 of my guys one square short before the evac
I cried and didn't play the game again till a year later
        I'll give it another try
        Thanks for the tips

A few things I’d recommend when trying to scout ahead is to move your rangers up towards the start of your turn (preferrably first up) and never have them sprint into uncharted territory (ie. always leave half a turn for them to come back or shoot). Never ever advance into uncharted territory with the last soldier of your turn, always have them move somewhere that’s behind your frontlines so you won’t activate a new enemy pod. I’d also highly recommend speccing a ranger with the ‘phantom’ ability which lets them remain concealed even after the rest of your squad is revealed and then use that concealed ranger for scouting ahead. Don’t shoot enemies with that concealed ranger until you absolutely have to - keep them hidden and have your other soldiers do the dirty work, then move your phantom in for a critical hit once you no longer need them to scout (or you need the extra shot to deal with a battle).

@asubtleviolence: I agree, that's good tactical advice. One other thing i forgot to mention is Bradford is a moron. What I mean by that is if you feel a mission is going really badly, just EVAC your soldiers (if the mission type allows). Bradford will blab about how terrible it is etc, but the penalties for failing a mission or 2 are minimal. Just keep ranking your soldiers up and try to use a B team on missions you know will be easy so you have insurance if your A team is wiped out.

About scouting… if it isn't working, just advance with your grenadiers. The enemy will move towards you- use your grenades to blast their cover and 1/2 their health, and then have the rest of the squad kill them. When you get LT grenadiers you can get 3 grenades each. Stack that with biggest booms from GTS and plasma grenades, and you should be able to deal huge damage to infantry type aliens. Robot/ mechanical can be dealt with by using bluescreen ammo and grenades.

@naturaldecay: Another good little advancement trick is to move a soldier up with a single action movement, and if you run into some enemies, switch to your sniper who can use squadsight to see the newly-spotted enemies, take a shot and then have your frontline soldier retreat to cover with the second half of their turn. In general, remembering that you can move your soldiers and take their movements/actions in any order is really useful.

That has to be close to an all time low for the XCOM 2 collection. They've been super, super stingy with discounting the entire package. I know I'm going to buy it at this price.

  • Coming up as 19.99 USD on mine :(

    • They increased the price by $5 apparently.

      Sorry.
