Wait for the next techfast deal

    • Good deal but was hoping to order in next couple of days. Anyone else that would offer similar price?

      • Could try messaging luketechfast and asking for something specific.

        I'm sure he could accommodate.

IF you have ~$1000 then you can build a performance machine that is very respectable, basically it can run all school programs and actually play 95% of all games as well be somewhat future proof. Since I had just build one for ~$1200 for my brother but with all the RGB bells and whistles, I can help you out with something around $900 less all the fancy LEDs.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF Processor with Wraith Stealth
Mobo: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 AMD mATX Motherboard
PSU: Thermaltake Smart BX1 550W 80 Plus Bronze Non Modular Power Supply
Storage: any SSD + HDD Combo
Case: Any case that fits the budget. I recommend the Deepcool Matrexx 55 Minimalist RGB Tempered Glass Mid Tower Case
    RAM: Team T-Force Delta RGB 16GB 2X8) DDR4 3000MHz RAM
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super Aero ITX OC Graphics Card
    Cooling: CoolerMaster Lite x3

Trick is to order the parts from Centrecom who offers not only free delivery but also same day dispatch so you should expect everything to arrive by the end of the week. I have check the stock and availability and all the components are in stock at the moment. The 1600AF is currently a pc market favorite because it has 6 cores but only costs $155, where it might lose out in single core performance, it does a lot better in multitasking school work and overall gaming. The 1660 super is pretty much top tier for 1080p gaming and can also perform well at 1440p for most titles, I think your son will have more than a good time with this combo of cpu and gpu.

If you are new to PC building, then I suggest watching BitWit, LinusTechTips, joey delgado or the numerous number of other pc builders on youtube. They have 40 minute videos that are digestible and easy to follow. Also, there is a way to legally use Windows for "Free" but I am sure they is Windows Education free for download somewhere. These youtubers that i recommended will cover this topic well.

For reference, a similar gaming PC from most online retailers of this power would probably run you close to $1600. Techfast would provide a much better deal but you would have to wait for weeks.

In the event that I cannot convince you to build this PC, then still go on to Centrecom and use their PC builder tab, chuck most of the components in and add the $110 assembly labor which would be much cheaper than anywhere else and comes with free shipping.

Do you need just the PC Box? (Cheap/easy)(Newest)
    eg/ AMD r5-3600af, RX 5700, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD
eg/ You provide your own peripherals.

Do you need the entire Desktop PC package? (Very limiting)(Mixed New/Used Condition)
    eg/ AMD r3-3400G, iGPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
eg/ Used Desk, Chair, Speaker, Mic, Webcam, Headphone, Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor, and PC Box.

Or does it have to be in a Laptop form-factor? (Most limited)(Most "used")
    eg/ Intel i7-7700HQ, GTX 1050, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
    eg/ Peripherals are built-in.

    • Just PC box

PS: These are more like "best case" scenarios, I doubt you would be able to get deals as good, unless you are thrifty-shopper!
