Can anyone tell me how awesome this dash cam is ?

I cannot imagine people would pay this price for a dash cam! And It is a bargain?

    Am I outdated?

My xiaomi 70mai can record perfect video clips. With the 1080p loop recording, I am always relaxed. Also i can do voice control, with all that fancy function I only paid $50 from amazon.

Sorry, this could be a better camera, but I don’t know how much it better than my 70mai. Could be the professional level dash cam?

Yeah, I definitely feel like there is diminishing returns on dashcams at the high end. Perhaps their software becomes more reliable to compensate(?) I'm not sure.

I have a Viofo A129 Duo which I got with a hardwire kit and some other accessories for $250ish, and I feel that was a lot for a camera.

I think 4G would certainly be useful for some people's use cases, but I think it's pretty niche.

I do like that the camera can record 60fps in the front cam while the rear is still recording - mine can only do 30 if both cameras are recording. But that makes me wonder, why exactly can't mine? My SD card is top of the line for endurance/write cycles and for speed. It doesn't SEEM like it'd require too much beefy internal cam hardware to do that, but maybe I am wrong.

Overall, I think the price is worth it for those with very specific needs, but otherwise I would recommend much cheaper options.

Just like other products, there are different levels ranging from basic to premium. You have the $50+ entry levels (70mai, Garmin) $200+ middle level (Viofa, Street Guardian, Lukus) then you have the $500+ premium level (Blackvue, Thinkware). Each will all do the same thing, with the others doing more then the normal specification of just recording. Going above the entry level dashcams will give you features such as:
      - better video quality/higher fps/higher resolution
      - better heat capacitors for higher working temperature regions
      - cloud storage
      - parking mode
      - in-built screen
      - Wi-Fi connectivity
      - build quality
      - dual channel (front & rear, or camera facing passengers for taxi's/ubers)

There are quite a few features that can go beyond just recording, but of course, you pay extra for the additional features. And just like what Confabultron said, it all depends on the person's specific needs and their budget.

I recently installed a Thinkware U1000 4K camera. It was a boxing day sale so the price was lower than normal, cant quite remember but was around 750 installed (single channel) from Ryda.

Perhaps a silly reason, but to be honest my main reason for getting it is the speed cam alert feature. As someone paranoid about points & fines, if it saves me 1 or 2 fines its served its purpose. My car's builtin GPS doesnt have a speedcam feature, and just wanted it to be more hassle free than remembering to run waze on the phone everytime I drive.

  • What’s the difference to a 50 dollars 70Mai? They look identical.

      $614.05‬ cheaper than this deal.

Old adage rings true, you get what you pay for when it comes to Dash Cams. Like cars, you can buy the Hyundai i20 or you can buy the Ferrari. The Blackvue DR750S-2CH LTE is the Ferrari. It is the first 4G Dash Cam in Australia that you can drop a 4G SIM Card into for cloud connectivity. Whilst the Xiaomi is a great product, it doesn't have 4G connectivity built in or some of the other bells and whistles that the Blackvue DR750S-2CH LTE does. We also stock Dash Cams that start from $35!

    • Here is a solid review of some dash cams including Blackvue and the earlier mentioned Viofo. I won't ruin the findings and allow you to watch for yourself and see who wins out ..

    • It's not a Ferrari mate, It's not even as good as a Hyundai i20. It's just a frickin' dashcam

The problem with these top of the range camera's is the crims will break into a car to steal them.
    My 650 went this way.

At least using a cloud service will get you video of the masked intruder. ;)

    • My experience is most people don't notice them. I've used a BlackVue and an older dashcam to record while parking and people will freely have a gander at the contents of my car. Some of them end up noticing the camera and you can see their demeanour changes right away. They aren't crooks — not the nosy elderly at least — just some people behave differently when they think they aren't being watched

Ide rather just buy insurance and let other people worry about damage etc….. dashcams are a waste of time imo

If you ever have to cash out on your insurance premium even once, you would understand the value of a dashcam.

  • I got the DR900s 2 ch from autobarn with the power magic pro 32GB card about a year or so back fully installed for around $750 (if my memory serves me right). You really need the largest SD card as the 32GB card records very little before it runs out of memory and gets overridden. The night vision is not that great but day vision is quite good. Also the sensors work quite well. Eg if I open the boot/door (when parked), when I start the car it lets me know that an impact was detected. The model I got has wifi and I think you can view the camera on your phone. I think I set it up at the start and never bothered due to software issues and you need to have wi-fi access to view the camera on your phone. Overall I am happy with the cameras.

if you can spend $600 on a dashcam, you should be able to afford a premium insurance.
not worth the price in my opinion, even if you drive a rarri

Lowest has been $441 in Dec with PowerMagic Pro.

    • You're probably thinking about the DR750S

    • That's the stock standard DR750S model.

    • those aren't the latest 4G/LTE model
