Wheels Are Taking Way Too Long to Be Painted

So I purchased a car from a dealer on the 22nd feb with notes on the contract that the wheels would be repaired and picked it up that day.

I got sent to an independent repair shop initially for a look at the condition of the wheels on the 28th of feb. I was told that he would need them for a few days and to drop them in on Tuesday the the 3rd of March at 9am. I hadn’t heard anything by Thursday afternoon so have him a call to see how it was going. He told us they weren’t ready and they’d be ready Friday afternoon. Called Friday afternoon and was told Monday afternoon. Called Monday afternoon and it was Tuesday afternoon. Called again Tuesday morning and was told that they wouldn’t be ready that afternoon. I got quite frustrated and explained how I needed a car as I hadn’t organised anything past the few days. Message him today (fro day the 13th and he said if I want them back tomorrow he will have to compromise quality.

Is this a reasonable time frame for wheels to be painted and/or if they aren’t up to standard do I have any options as it was in the contract to “repair wheels”

TIA

I mean, people are dying of poverty, accidents, crimes and natural disasters every single day around the world, we still get asked about cheap sausages..

glad you took the time to review my profile. cheers.

  • Sounds like the dealer's trying to drag it out (eg. not authorising $$$ to repairer) hoping that you'll get too frustrated waiting and just forego the repair.
Is there a timeframe outlined on the contract?

    • No timeframe. I think the dealer already tried that as it was a nightmare just trying to get them to organise it. All the excuses in the world whenever it’s not done and he’s always trying to make me feel sorry for him. Honestly if I was told from the start it would take this long I’d be happy to wait and organise something else but I honestly don’t know what’s happening.

Have you made payment in full? If so, that's your mistake.

    • I’m not sure what the dealer did. I don’t have to pay at all.

      • I mean if the dealer has the money…

You should have made the dealer get the work done after paying a deposit, that way the dealer is chasing the work not you.

I got sent to an independent repair shop

So who's stalling, the dealer or the person doing the repair job? Doesn't sound like the time-frame is in the dealer's hands at all

What sort of car is it? Could be Corolla Virus.
