Will this be good to install in my garage so I can check if it's closed? I always have this fear that I've forgotten to close my garage….

    • You'll only forget to check the camera

Nah. A few times I have reversed back after I've driven off a few metres, and a couple of extreme cases; I have turned back after travelling about 1-2KMs….

But if I had a camera, I could (safely pull over and) check the app

Reviews seem good and genuine; you don't need image quality anyway to just check if it's a bright open door, or a dark closed one.

I imagine anything would work :)

      • Yeah…Just want anything really, but the market is saturated with these low end cameras. Main thing I want is to make sure it can work without a memory card in it and if possible only powers on (comes off standby) if I activate it via the app

For the same price I'd go with Reolink indoor camera. Got a similar one to this off their aliexpress page for $42 and it's shipped from within Australia. Highly recommend Reolink, best bang for buck cameras, have 3 outdoor POE cameras already from them and they're excellent at $60 each.

    • do you have a reolink nvr or some other setup for storage?

      • I have 64GB microSD cards in each of the cameras (have also 3x reolink POE on the outside of the house) so i can access recording easily on the fly and am using Milestone xProtect to record to an external HDD to keep the older recordings which is running on my PC which is always on. The 64gb cards hold a solid 3-4 weeks of videos before they get full and overwritten. And the cameras reoord when the wind blows. If i lowered my sensitivity I could probably get a couple months worth of video on the sd cards alone

  • looks good but for my use i like the camera you can control direction from phone with 360 degree base.

  • Use an old phone ?

  • This looks like just the Aldi Cocoon Connect camera sold back before Christmas. I have a couple and seem OK, but challenge is if you put in a room with frequent traffic, the alerts of movement keep on popping up a notification on my android phone and becomes quite annoying. Although it does help me know my kids are still alive if they happen to move while gaming on the computer…

Also, you have got to love that video. The person has a classic mullett haircut, business in the front and party in the back. But now, with the camera, he can check if it's truly a party in the back.

  • Does it have a magnetic stand and can it be used upside down?

    • I will tell you when I received it, it shouldn't take long with Express Shipping

      • Thanks!

It's just a standard stand. The package also has a 3M sticker supplied.
You can flip screen for it to be used upside down.

  • Can these run without wifi, ie. just record to SDcard?

…and anything like this any good for a baby monitor? (as soon as you add the word 'baby' to anything you just add $$). Guess you would need wifi if running it as a baby monitor though.

    • Why do you want to record your baby?

Is he/she sneaking out at night ? ;P

      • Haha, nah two different purposes. Got a vacant rental property that was broken into. No wifi on the property, but has power. So wondering if it will run/ record from the SD Card.

Purpose two is a baby monitor using an old tablet.

Actually, can I just use an old phone and send it to a tablet somehow?

        • The app can record onto the phone if that’s what you’re saying.

          • @Danstar: Cheers, but no. Does the camera record any motion detected on to just an SD Card (with no wifi connection present)?

            • @tunzafun001: I'll have a look for you when I'm home later tonight. If I forget to respond, comment again so I remember

              • @Danstar: Cheers legend.

              • @Danstar: Bought one anyway using the $14 credit (added a TV mount to make it to $50 - $14).

                • @tunzafun001: Ahhh good. Cos I saw the camera and remembered you. But I’m pretty buggered at the moment and probably wouldn’t have had the time to do it today
