I'm eying some clearance items from Kmart, Officeworks, and Myer. Does anyone know how the clearance prices are set at those stores? Is it done automatically, ie every few weeks the computer will bring the prices down or is it up to the stores manager?

Warning…kmart will tell you they can, just so you buy the item, then refuse to lay-by a clearance item…even when you've paid in full…
I tried doing this when I rode my bicycle 12km's to the store…
Ended up catching a taxi home with the item and my bike…a**eholes!

Clearance items are normally not available for lay buy afaik.
Lay-by…as in 'Shove it in the backroom because I have no room on my bicycle', giving me time to go home and get the car so I can come back and pick up the item that afternoon!

Tried that…it was a shared dock etc so due to…you can see this coming…due to OH&S…
Another question, is it possible to haggle prices on damaged items on clearance at Myer?
At myer youre entitled to 10% off for damaged clothing. Not sure about electrical…
Markdowns occur every few weeks as well
Some of the clearance prices at Kmart have been the same for weeks now, but on the other hand, if they were any cheaper they'd be giving them away. Items on their chuck-out trolley are supposedly marked down every Thursday morning.
