just a heads up that in the new 7/11 fuel lock in app update, it mentions that you can lock in with no funds in your account. Pretty handy

Just did a test locking in more than $100 worth which is how much I have on my account, and it's still telling me to top up?
Maybe in the next modded app version it'll have that. I assume the existing one we are using is based off an old version

Just confirmed this is working for me. I had to update to the latest 711 app on Android, then got prompted for new terms and this got this. Locked in some fuel without a balance.
Great news. Just worked for me on iPhone.
Opened the app on my S8 and it had a pop up message advising to update to the new version. After update and accepting the T&Cs, it states no need to top up anymore. I am assuming the next time we fill up, we can use the remaining credits then pay the balance using a credit card

I'm wondering why they choosed to move this way? What States are you guys from? Looks like Tasmania, South Australia and NT have the worst prices now.
Most people aren't locking in prices when they have to pre-load cash. It was probably a bit ahead of its time. Allowing price locks to use with cash/card at the counter will open it up to more people to use.
And their credit card system was so fragile. It didn't like debit cards, this that whatever. Most people had to get a Gift Card from 7-Eleven and use that suck a f#$#k around

Thanks Vlad! 7 Eleven has obviously seen the writing on the wall and decided to try and increase fuel purchasing in the days ahead.
I got an email today from 7-Eleven confirming this:
We have removed the top up feature in the 7-Eleven Fuel App
You are no longer able to top up your 7-Eleven Card through the app and it is no longer a requirement to have funds on your 7-Eleven Card in order to create a Fuel Price Lock.
If you still have funds remaining on your 7-Eleven Card you’ll still be able to spend your remaining balance in store.
The new app seems to encourage the user to spend down the balance. Are they trying to reduce their liabilities?

I like the concept of not needing the money in the app anymore, but wasn't expecting 7-11 to steal my money or to go through a lengthy and painfull process to get it back.
My remaining balance that was still in the app was rejected in store just now (they tried 4 times to scan it, I refreshed the code each time, and was rejected every time it was scanned).
I asked to transfer it to physical gift card and I was told this is not possible. I was advised to call the central helpdesk or something.Let's see if the process they proposed via email will even work.

I used fund in the APP twice this month without problems. Now the balance is down to less than $10. I'll use it up before 14 June to avoid hassle.
Maybe it is your store/operator's problem. Try to use it at another location. BTW, it said paid by giftcard on the receipt.
I normally only buy fuel (always in the same 7-11, never had issues before).
I filled up yesterday, so now I definitely don't need to buy anything there for the next month.I'm upset because the employee was almost blaming me, it was solely my issue the balance was not working. He concluded by saying the balance is not valid and I had to use another payment method.
24/7 support from 7-11 also didn't respond yet after 20 hours.

Answering my own question..
They've got a link to initiate the gift card process on their website.
I did however need to reset my password as I never got an email from them with my log in details.I contacted them via the website a few days ago. They sent me an email which included a temporary password.
Now to see when it arrives

But there is a digital gift card in my account.
(Original email, log into my account, manage cards, then can add to Google or Apple pay, then can view and/or take pictures for your phone to use)
@SomeGuyOnOzB: I havent received mine either, called them today and they say there are delays because of high number of people asking for them. Its been a month since I've given them details for the gift card and theres still no eta on when the card will be shipped out. What were they expecting, people to not ask for their money?

Broken. Apparently they spent millions on the new app to ensure it can't be faked.
The new app also won't let you use a code if it thinks you've "faked it". Blocked my daughter using her voucher that I'd locked in.
Back to Costco fuel for me.
Jailbroken ipad and fake gps is working fine.
